Young generation continues the green journey

Young people in the Agriculture and Environment sector are writing a story of aspiration, dedication, and creative action for the goal of sustainable national development.

On the journey of national development, when Vietnam is facing the enormous challenges of climate change, green transformation and global technology competition, the young generation of the Agriculture and Environment sector (A&E) is writing a new story, a story of aspiration to contribute, pioneering spirit and creative action for the goal of developing green agriculture, sustainable environment and prosperous future of the country.

The mark of innovation and action of youth

After the merger of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, a new generation of union members has been formed: more dynamic, creative and united. Under the direction of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Ministry and the Government Youth Union, the Union work of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has spread strongly, becoming a bright spot in the Government sector. Each union member carries within him the spirit of innovation, the desire to contribute, contributing to making the industry a pioneer in green transformation, modernizing agriculture, and protecting the country's environment.

One of the outstanding ways is the program "Agricultural Digitalization - Connecting Young Knowledge" launched in 2023, gathering nearly 200 young officials, engineers, and scientists . They together build an open database on land, water, climate, and crops, helping farmers and businesses access information for production. To date, more than 10,000 data records have been updated, creating a foundation for the industry's smart management system in the future.

Along with the digital transformation efforts, the Youth Union also made a strong impression with the Workshop "Eco-agriculture - Professional farmers - Aspiration to reach new heights" held in 2024. The workshop attracted more than 3,000 union members and young experts nationwide, becoming a large forum on circular agriculture and new technology. From the workshop, many pioneering models were born such as digital ecological farms, AI applications for pest management, and zero-emission agricultural supply chains, demonstrating the spirit of innovation and dedication of the youth.

“Innovation is not a slogan, but the way we act, turning ideas into products, turning enthusiasm into concrete values,” Secretary of the Ministry's Youth Union Ta Hong Son shared.

Spread love, foster community responsibility

If “digitalization” is a technological breakthrough, then “Volunteer Journey - Spreading Love” is a mark of humanity. In the period 2022-2025, the Ministry’s Youth Union mobilized more than 5 billion VND in socialized funds to support thousands of poor students, people in disaster areas and those in difficult circumstances across the country.

In particular, the campaign “Join hands to rebuild lives after typhoon Yagi” in Yen Bai left a deep impression: hundreds of members directly participated in reforestation, house repair, traffic restoration, clean water supply and livelihood support for people. Each trip is a journey of maturity, affirming the spirit of “for people, for nature, for a sustainable Vietnam”.

Not stopping there, the movement “Youth in Action - For a Green Vietnam” has also spread strongly throughout the industry, becoming a symbol of green lifestyle. In just three years, the Ministry’s Youth Union members have planted more than 121,000 trees, collected hundreds of tons of plastic waste and implemented many practical activities such as “Volunteer Saturday - Green Sunday”, “Earth Hour”, “Make the world cleaner”.

Youth projects such as “Millions of trees for a green Vietnam” and “Green playground for your future” not only contribute to environmental protection and climate change adaptation, but also inspire sustainable lifestyles in every school and residential area, affirming the pioneering role of the Ministry’s youth in creating a green future.

In addition to practical actions, the Ministry's Youth Union focuses on fostering knowledge and inspiring creativity through programs such as "Book Day and Reading Culture", "Youth with Intellectual Property Culture", "Green Startup Forum"... These are "knowledge bridges" connecting scientists, businesses and union members, creating an environment for ideas to be nurtured and spread.

From these forums, many green startup projects were born, bringing new vitality to the youth innovation movement. Each competition and each initiative not only arouses the passion for research, but also helps young people to have a deeper understanding of the value of knowledge, integration and responsibility to contribute in the 4.0 era.

Looking back on the past, we can see that each initiative, each project, each campaign bears the mark of a dedicated and pioneering generation, the spirit of "From knowledge to action". From the office to remote areas, from laboratories to volunteer projects, everywhere there are footprints of the youth of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, people who are not afraid of difficulties, not afraid of hardships, always determined to turn green aspirations, aspirations of dedication into reality, affirming the pioneering role of youth in the journey to create green, circular and modern agriculture, contributing to building a greener, cleaner and more livable Vietnam for future generations.

Pioneering in creating a green future

Entering the 2025-2030 development period, with the slogan "Aspiration - Pioneer - Creativity - Action - Breakthrough", the Ministry's Youth Union sets the goal of becoming a pioneering force, daring to think, daring to do, and being creative in digital transformation, developing circular agriculture, protecting the environment, adapting to climate change and managing sustainable resources.

According to Secretary Ta Hong Son, young people in the agriculture and environment sector will together paint a picture of green, creative and integrated development through three breakthrough tasks.

First of all, innovate the Youth Union's operating methods to build a flexible and modern organizational model, turn challenges into opportunities, and create momentum for the youth movement.

Second, pioneering the creation of green and circular agriculture, leading digital transformation, taking practical actions for a sustainable environment, bringing green values ​​into each project and each rural area.

Third, breakthroughs in research and innovation, promoting the potential of young intellectuals, applying science and technology to production, contributing to building a modern, smart and sustainable agriculture.

“These three directions are the driving force for the youth of the agriculture and environment sector to affirm their pioneering role in the green era and global integration. We are not waiting for the future, but are creating it together,” Secretary Ta Hong Son shared with firm belief.

This is not only an affirmation, but also the mindset of a whole generation of young people of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, a pioneering, creative and active generation, always ready to turn ideas into actions, turn green aspirations into reality, contributing to building ecological agriculture, modern countryside, and sustainable environmental development.

On the journey of innovation today, the Ministry’s youth are becoming an abundant source of energy, promoting the development of the industry, and at the same time being a bright beacon in the green transformation process. They are the pride of a generation with big dreams, daring to think, daring to do and daring to take responsibility.

It is from small but practical actions, from innovative initiatives and a spirit of constant dedication that the youth of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment are steadfastly contributing to realizing the aspiration of building a green, prosperous and sustainable Vietnam in a new era where knowledge, technology and the hearts of youth converge to create the future.
