Coming to Dinh Chua village, many people could not help but admire the colorful flower route. Ms. Tran Thi Dung, Head of the Women's Union of the village, said: "Since the beginning of 2021, the union has launched the model of "Self-managed flower route". After reaching an agreement with all members, the union selected flowers that are easy to grow, easy to care for, reproduce quickly, bloom all year round, are fresh and cost-effective". From the initial flower bushes, the union has now expanded into 3 routes with a length of nearly 800 m, covered with colorful, green flowers, pleasing to the eye for anyone passing by.

The flower road of Dinh Chua village women is taken care of by many members and people, so it always maintains its fresh beauty, becoming one of the most beautiful flower roads in Nha Nam commune. Periodically on Saturdays and Sundays of even weeks in the month, the association mobilizes members to prune branches and leaves, pull weeds, and clean up to keep the environment green - clean - beautiful. Since then, it has become a positive habit, both beautifying the village road and strengthening the spirit of solidarity among women.

As one of the members who participated from the beginning, Ms. Ngo Thi Hanh shared: “At first, we planted flowers at the beginning of the road, then gradually expanded to the end of the route. For each house that the road passes through, that person is responsible for taking care of the flowers in front of their house.”

In early October, the Commune Women's Union continued to inaugurate a 1km long flower road in Dinh Ha village with peonies and a 0.5km long green road with acacia and eucalyptus in Ngan Van village. These are two projects to welcome the Congress of the Women's Union and the Party Congress at all levels. The special thing is that the funding is contributed by members and people, whoever finds it beautiful will voluntarily contribute their labor and money to work together.

Currently, the whole commune has 16 flower roads nearly 9 km long, 21 green roads 11.7 km long, 9 bright - green - clean - beautiful roads 7.3 km long and 21 garbage-free roads 9.6 km long. Each road has the mark of women members in planting, caring for, cleaning every day, contributing to changing the appearance of the countryside, building livable countrysides.

Raising awareness of environmental protection

Along with beautifying the landscape, the Women's Union of Nha Nam commune also promotes practical models and activities such as: "Green house", "Women say no to plastic bags and disposable plastic products", "Bright - green - clean - beautiful roads"...

The Association implemented the Project "Propaganda, mobilization, and guidance for women members to collect, classify waste, and dispose of household waste in accordance with regulations for the period 2021 - 2025" associated with the movements "Green Saturday, Clean Sunday", "Clean from home to alley, clean from alley to home" and the movement "Family of 5 yes, 3 clean". 100% of the branches organized for members to sign a commitment to dispose of waste in the right place; actively sweep village roads, alleys, and sort waste every week.

Scrap collection to raise funds to help disadvantaged members is actively implemented.

The Association also regularly organizes propaganda sessions, instructing on waste classification at source; exchanging scrap for glass bottles, cloth bags, green trees or biological products to attract members and spread to a large number of people of all ages to participate, because everyone is aware that keeping the environment clean is to maintain health and benefits for their family.

It has become a habit that after drinking soft drinks, the children of Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh in Dinh Chua village put the cans into the waste bin to join their mother in "green saving" at the association. "Seeing the increasingly green rural landscape, all the sisters are excited, happy and more active in sorting, collecting waste, planting and taking care of trees," Ms. Hanh shared.

Ms. Hoang Thi Khanh, President of the Women's Union of Nha Nam commune, said: "The Union directs the branches to regularly propagate and guide members to collect and classify waste. Recyclable waste will be collected at the village cultural house on the second and fourth Saturday mornings of the month. When there is enough quantity, it will be sold to raise funds to support members and children in difficult circumstances." With that approach, since the beginning of the year, the Union has collected tons of scrap, using the proceeds from selling scrap to give gifts and support the livelihoods of more than 300 students and women members in difficult circumstances.

During the implementation process, the Association always chooses appropriate content and methods to achieve high efficiency. Up to now, the commune has established 32 clubs to collect, classify and dispose of garbage in the right place with nearly 700 members participating; at the same time, it has built clubs: "Women limit the use of plastic bags", "Women use biological products", "Women handle organic waste at households".

According to Ms. Hoang Thi Khanh, in the coming time, the Association will continue to advise the Party Committee and the government to maintain and replicate effective models. In particular, focusing on propagating and mobilizing members to classify and collect garbage according to regulations in conjunction with the new rural construction movement; maintaining a fund from recycled waste to support members in difficulty; promoting propaganda on the criteria of "Family of 5 haves, 3 cleans", "Association of 5 haves, 3 cleans", creating a wide spread, avoiding formalities, contributing to preserving the green environment for Nha Nam homeland.
