Vung Tau Ward (HCMC): 81 people evacuated from areas at risk of landslides

On the evening of November 6, the People's Committee of Vung Tau Ward evacuated 81 people living in 19 houses in alley 634/8 Tran Phu, right at the foot of Lon Mountain, to ensure safety before the heavy rain and strong winds caused by the storm.

Thanks to the propaganda, mobilization and support of the functional forces of Vung Tau ward, the households agreed and complied with the evacuation from areas at risk of landslides to a safe place (at the relic of Ma Tam Nhung's House in the same area managed by the ward) that same night.

Mr. Nghiem Viet Hung, Head of the Economic - Infrastructure and Urban Department of Vung Tau Ward, said that Alley 634/8 has been experiencing landslides since around October 2022 and is continuing to erode. The landslides are at risk of becoming more serious.

Specifically, the alley 634/8 Tran Phu is located in a high position, about 50m long, steep slope, about 20m higher than the alley 634 Tran Phu, has 19 houses, of which 6 are in the dangerous area, 4 houses are built on rock foundation and 2 houses are built on earthen ground without embankment, there is a landslide situation. Below the slope there are about 9 houses where people are living.

On the night of November 6, authorities evacuated all households in the danger zone. At the same time, warning ropes were put up in all areas at risk of landslides.

Currently, authorities continue to be on duty, monitor weather developments, check landslide areas and prepare response plans in case of bad situations.
