Building Da Nang into a regional specialized medical center

In order to gradually become the core of a specialized medical center in the Central Highlands region, the Da Nang health sector has synchronously deployed many solutions, focusing on three main pillars: Investing in infrastructure; improving the quality of human resources; and strongly applying modern medical technology.

The Department of Health said that the city has been investing in building, upgrading, and expanding key medical facilities, such as Da Nang Hospital, Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital, Oncology Hospital, Traditional Medicine Hospital, etc., towards forming specialized medical centers.

Accordingly, Da Nang Hospital has invested in upgrading its infrastructure, expanding specialized treatment centers, especially the Center for Neurosurgery, Trauma - Plastic Burns, Center for Organ Transplantation - Stem Cell Transplantation, and Cardiovascular Center. At the same time, it has promoted the training of organ transplant teams, and cooperated with major hospitals in the country and internationally.

The city aims to build Da Nang Hospital into a regional organ transplant coordination center in the Central Highlands, helping to reduce the burden on Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the Department of Health, the city will review and compare the requirements, regulations of the law, instructions of the Central Government, the Ministry of Health; international medical standards and criteria to invest in upgrading, ensuring conditions for developing Da Nang Hospital to become a special-class hospital and a general hospital assuming regional functions.

Develop specialized centers in Da Nang Hospital to provide specialized technical services to people in the city and the region to increase access to specialized medical services; have the task of directing and providing technical expertise to medical facilities in the city and the region, and take on the role of regional response in case of epidemics and disasters.

Along with that, develop the Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, the Oncology Hospital, and the Eye Hospital into city-level specialized hospitals that undertake regional functions, providing health care for people in the city and in the region in obstetrics/obstetrics and pediatrics, oncology, and eye specialties.

The city aims to have at least two regional-standard specialized hospitals by 2030, and upgrade a number of specialized hospitals capable of providing specialized technical services to meet the health care needs of people in the city and the region. In addition, develop a number of modern, high-tech specialized hospitals on par with advanced countries in the region and internationally.
