During his visit and working visit to a number of military units and localities in Ca Mau and An Giang provinces, General Secretary To Lam directed the implementation of investment in the construction of key projects serving national defense, security, and socio-economic development in the far southwest of the country.
General Phan Van Giang emphasized: Tho Chau Special Zone has a particularly important position in terms of national defense and security. In order for every citizen, every officer and soldier to fully enjoy the right to development like any other Vietnamese on the mainland, the Ministry of National Defense continues to consolidate the sea and island defense posture; build Tho Chau Special Zone into a strategic fulcrum in the Southwest defense system.
At the same time, conduct feasibility studies and speed up the construction of stable residential areas; upgrade the island's ring road and traffic works; complete the water source project; conduct feasibility studies on power supply, telecommunications, upgrade military-civilian infirmaries, waste treatment plants, wind power to serve people's lives and develop tourism .
General Phan Van Giang emphasized that the implementation of investment in the construction of key projects and works in Tho Chau Special Zone is a step to concretize the direction of the Party and State leaders; affirming that these are important works to strengthen national defense, security and protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland; at the same time effectively exploiting the potential and advantages of the region, creating momentum for socio-economic development of An Giang province and the Southwest region.
