Building new rural areas and civilized urban areas is a major policy that Phu Tho province is focusing on implementing. In Tan Son district, thanks to flexible implementation and the effective role of mass mobilization work, the movement has spread widely, contributing to changing the appearance of localities and improving the lives of the people.
Mr. Ha Van Mong, from Zone I, Tan Phu commune, recalled: “This road used to be just a narrow path, about 1 meter wide. We farmers had a very hard time harvesting our crops. Since the end of 2023, the road has been completed and put into use with investment from the government. We are very happy because the value of our produce is higher than before.”
Walking alongside us on the new road, Mr. Nguyen Duc Nghia, Secretary of the Party Branch I, Tan Phu commune, excitedly said: “When the government decided to build the road, we held a meeting with the residents, and all the households with land on both sides of the road agreed to donate land to widen the road. We quickly cleared the land to create the most favorable conditions for the construction unit to complete the road.”
Along with expanding roads, the construction of community cultural centers in mountainous areas is also given special attention in the development of civilized urban areas. Mr. Phung Van Cuong, Secretary of the Party Branch of Zone 8, Tan Phu Commune, said: “Since the community cultural center was newly built with spacious facilities, including playgrounds and exercise areas for both adults and children, the people in the area are very happy. Thanks to this, the spirit of solidarity and unity among the people in the area has become even stronger and more enduring.”
After 17 years since the establishment of Tan Son district, Tan Phu commune, the district's central commune, has now met all the criteria to be established as a town. The establishment of the town will create momentum to accelerate the socio-economic development of the locality. Mr. Thai Viet Anh, Vice Chairman of the Tan Phu Commune People's Committee, said: “Tan Phu commune has been recognized as a type V urban area. During the process of upgrading from a commune to a town, we encountered many advantages in terms of infrastructure and basic cultural facilities, although some cultural centers are still being completed to meet the required standards. In the coming time, the local Party Committee and government will focus on mobilizing resources to ensure the construction of a civilized urban area.”
According to Mr. Nguyen Quoc Viet, Head of the Economic and Infrastructure Department of Tan Son District: “For the period 2026-2030, the Tan Son District People's Committee has planned to develop an urban development program focusing on infrastructure such as transportation, administrative and public service offices, education, culture, and urban trade and services... with modern and well-equipped facilities so that Tan Phu commune can be recognized as a type IV urban area and become a town in the future.”
On the "journey" of building a civilized urban area and transforming Tan Phu into a town, the people here are always proud of the contributions of each individual. It is hoped that this model of a civilized urban area will help make the urban space and landscape in the mountainous district of Tan Son increasingly bright, green, clean, and beautiful, with a more developed socio-cultural environment and an improved quality of life for its residents.
