Horse-drawn carriages carrying tourists are not allowed to operate in Tuyen Lam Lake tourist area.

On the afternoon of May 9, Mr. Le Viet Dong, representative of 10 horse-drawn carriage businesses transporting tourists, said that after 1 day of moving the horse-drawn carriages to Tuyen Lam Lake Tourist Area to operate according to the instructions of Da Lat City, the Management Board of this tourist area did not allow it and asked them to stop.

Previously, as Thanh Nien reported, on February 21, 2025, Da Lat City issued Document No. 1092/UBND-LN on stopping the business of transporting passengers by horse-drawn carriage around Xuan Huong Lake, and at the same time instructed households to bring horse-drawn carriages to Tuyen Lam Lake tourist area to serve tourists.

After the document No. 1092/UBND-LN was issued, a series of press agencies spoke out about the sudden ban on horse-drawn carriage tours , causing horse owners to "break contracts" with many foreign tours such as those from Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, etc. due to prior agreements. On the other hand, this is a unique tourism product that has existed in the mountain town of Da Lat for nearly 50 years, so afterwards, the People's Committee of Da Lat City issued a document extending the permission for horse-drawn carriages to carry tourists around Xuan Huong Lake until March 31, 2025.

According to Mr. Dong, for more than a month now, all horse-drawn carriages have had to stop operating, although on the occasion of April 30 and May 1, many tourists coming to Da Lat want to ride horse-drawn carriages to sightsee and enjoy the scenery.

On May 8, households brought horse carts to Tuyen Lam Lake Tourist Area to serve Korean tourists. The route from Suoi Tia Bridge (near Bao Dai Waterfall) ran towards the Sculpture Tunnel for about 2 km, then returned to the starting point. Foreign tourists were also very satisfied with this route. However, on May 9, the Tuyen Lam Lake Tourist Area Management Board did not allow the operation, requested to stop, and if they continued to carry tourists, a record would be made.

Talking to reporters, a leader of Tuyen Lam Lake Tourist Area said that according to the content of Decision No. 1968/QD-UBND dated September 7, 2016 of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, on approving the adjustment of the general planning of Tuyen Lam Lake Tourist Area, Da Lat City to 2030 with a vision to 2050, there is no planning for horse-drawn carriage activities to transport tourists.

Since March 2025, Tuyen Lam Lake Tourism Management Board has sent a document to Da Lat City stating its disagreement and requesting guidance on arranging for horse-drawn carriage businesses to be allowed to operate in other areas in accordance with regulations.

Thus, the typical tourism product - horse-drawn carriages carrying tourists around the mountain town of Da Lat, which is popular with tourists, is now "out of business".

In fact, since the Lunar New Year of At Ty - 2025, tourists coming to Da Lat City can no longer experience a cruise on Tuyen Lam Lake, or pedalo (duck pedal) on Xuan Huong Lake, Tuyen Lam Lake and the Valley of Love. More recently, the 4-wheel electric vehicle service for tourists has also been suspended and from the beginning of April 2025, horse-drawn carriages have also been banned.
