In 2025, Tra Giap will mobilize the entire political system, making the most of resources from national target programs, social contributions, and the armed forces.
Local authorities demolished over 200 temporary houses, bringing the total number of poor households supported in building permanent houses over the past three years to 303, of which 193 houses came from national target programs and other integrated legal sources.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Duc Thoi, Head of the Commune Police, said that in collaboration with the local authorities, the City Police Department directly supported the construction of 15 houses (100 million VND/house), completed just in time for the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the police force and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for Protecting National Security this year.
Colonel Nguyen Minh Hien, Deputy Head of the Military School of Military Region 5, said that the unit provided support for 3 houses (80 million VND/house), and so far 1 house has been handed over, with the remaining 2 houses to be completed before August 31, 2025.
Through the Vietnam Fatherland Front channel in the commune, in 2025 the locality will support the construction of 76 houses, including 74 new houses (60 million VND/house) and 2 houses for renovation (30 million VND/house).
Nguyen Thi Kien, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune, commented: "Never before has the movement to eliminate temporary housing achieved such results as this year. This is a prerequisite for people to stabilize their lives and move towards sustainable poverty alleviation."
Behind those numbers lies the collective effort of the community. People contributed old materials and labor; militia forces and neighbors helped build the houses.
For example, Mr. Nguyen Van Dai, a Co ethnic minority member from Hamlet 1, despite his difficulties, was very happy when his family received support to build a house and contributed their efforts to complete their home as soon as possible.
In the same village, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhung, who received 100 million VND in housing assistance from the city police to improve her house, shared: “From this year's rainy season, I won't have to worry about housing anymore; I just need to focus on making a living and having enough to eat. This is the first time I've lived in a sturdy house, and I'm very grateful to the Party, the State, and the police force.”
Hoang Thanh Long, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Tra Giap commune, said: "The results of eliminating temporary housing in 2025 demonstrate the resolute spirit and unity of the political system and the people of Tra Giap. This is both a gift to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day and a contribution towards the 23rd City Party Congress and the 14th National Party Congress."
With over 200 temporary houses demolished to date, Tra Giap has created a "miracle" in the highlands. This achievement is not only about sturdy roofs that withstand storms, but also about the community's belief and aspiration to improve their lives, so that after each rainy season, no one has to live in fear of their house collapsing or their roof leaking.
