Businesses are promptly grasping consumer trends with diverse designs spanning various price segments.

Use large format tiles.

Having been in the building materials and interior design business for over 5 years, Ms. Tong Thu Hong in Hai Tan ward ( Hai Duong city) has noticed a significant change in consumer preferences. Previously, when choosing wall and floor tiles, most customers only focused on design, often opting for small sizes like 30x30 cm or 30x45 cm with bright colors. However, in the last 1-2 years, consumers have paid attention to both design and quality, shifting towards larger tiles ranging from 80x80 cm to 1.2x2.4 m, often featuring stone patterns and darker colors like gray and beige.

The reason is that large-format tiles create a flatter surface; using large-sized floor and wall tiles will create a feeling of spaciousness and airiness. In addition, large-format tiles have many advantages such as high durability, good load-bearing capacity, wear resistance, pressure resistance, water resistance, and stain resistance... helping to save construction time and maintenance costs. Gray and beige colors also add elegance to the house and garden.

Besides familiar Vietnamese brands like Viglacera, Dong Tam, and Hoan My, many people now also choose products manufactured abroad, such as in India and China. Ms. Hong's store has nearly 400 tile designs, including granite, ceramic, and glazed tiles. The price range for floor and wall tiles is wide, from 80,000-90,000 VND/ for budget-friendly options to 1-1.2 million VND/ for high-end options. Even during peak season, prices remain relatively stable with no significant fluctuations.

Modern life has led to the development of devices that serve people's daily needs. Multifunctional and environmentally friendly sanitary ware is also gaining popularity. Touchless and smart technologies are leading the trend. In particular, smart toilets with automatic flushing systems and adjustable seat temperature are favored by users. Integrated functions including automatic washing, drying, automatic flushing, antibacterial spray, and remote control via mobile applications are no longer uncommon. On the market, sanitary ware is sold at prices ranging from 5 to 30 million VND per set, depending on features and integrated technology.

Keeping pace with the market

Many construction projects are entering their final stages, leading to increased demand for building materials and interior furnishings.

The changing trends in finishing materials and interior design require businesses to be responsive and say "no" to outdated products. Beyond understanding consumer tastes and psychology, many shop owners proactively research trends through various information channels, such as design and construction groups on social media.

They regularly update their product range with the latest designs that are popular with consumers. Beyond traditional marketing methods like visiting homeowners to introduce products, many shop owners now promote their products on social media, through live videos , and more.

Mr. Pham Van Son, the owner of a building materials and interior design store in Kim Thanh district, often advertises his products through live streams on Facebook, directly interacting with and answering customer questions. During this period of increased construction demand, many families needed to repair or repaint their houses but couldn't find workers. Mr. Son helped connect homeowners with contractors, which also helped his store gain more customers.

Understanding customer preferences, Minh Hieu Plumbing and Electrical Store in Tan Binh Ward (Hai Duong City) has imported smart sanitary ware and kitchen appliances. Mr. Doan Trong Hieu, the store owner, said: “Currently, the number of customers visiting and shopping at our store has tripled compared to normal. Keeping up with the market is crucial to sales. This is also a key factor in helping the business survive in today's fiercely competitive market.”

Ms. Tong Thu Hong shared: "Previously, building material stores simply imported goods to sell, but now there has to be a change in business. We have to provide the items and products that customers need, not just sell what we have."

Not only did she build upon the skills and experience she gained from selling, but Ms. Hong also dedicated time to enrolling in online courses on design and architecture to further enhance her knowledge and improve her customer consulting skills.

From now until the Lunar New Year, stores and dealers selling finishing materials and interior furnishings will continue to intensify their marketing and product promotion programs to increase their competitiveness in the market. Consumers need to carefully research and purchase products from reputable stores and dealers to ensure quality and to benefit from genuine warranty policies.
