The National Political Publishing House Truth said that during his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh always had special affection and care for the young generation. He advised the youth to “not be afraid of hardship, not be afraid of difficulties”, and to enthusiastically volunteer to carry out the slogan: “Where there is need, there is youth, where there is difficulty, there is youth”.

Imbued with the teachings of President Ho Chi Minh, under the leadership of the Party, generations of young Vietnamese have always been placed at the center of the strategy of nurturing and promoting human factors and resources. Caring for, educating , training, nurturing and developing the young generation is identified as both a goal and a driving force to ensure the stability and sustainable development of the country and a task of the entire Party, the entire people and the entire political system.

The Vietnamese revolutionary practice has proven that the young generation of Vietnam is always worthy of the trust of the Party, the State and the people, contributing significantly to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, striving to bring our country "soon on par with the world powers". Throughout history, many examples and typical advances in combat, labor, study and work are young people.

In the current period of international integration and national development, the young generation still affirms itself as an enthusiastic force in implementing programs and goals of the innovation cause; always proactively creating, contributing, bringing their youth and intelligence to make the country famous. However, in this place and that place, there are still young people who live indifferently, heartlessly, selfishly, with a mindset and attitude of working in a half-hearted manner with the view that "doing more makes more mistakes, doing less makes less mistakes, not doing anything will not make mistakes", sometimes they put personal interests above all, forgetting their role towards the community, society, family and those around them.

Are they afraid of responsibility? And is this a “disease”? To partly suggest answers to the above questions, the National Political Publishing House Truth published the book “Are young people afraid of responsibility?”.

The idea for the book originated from the article “The Fear of Responsibility” by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong published in the Communist Magazine in 1973, when the General Secretary was a young editor of the Magazine. The book’s content is a collection of articles by authors who have worked and are working in central and local departments, ministries, and branches, operating in the fields of journalism, media, and business…

The authors exchanged and shared their views, thoughts, concerns, expressed their beliefs and affirmations of the role of young people in work and life today; provided correct and objective perspectives and assessments of the young generation and the reasons why it is necessary to give them opportunities and preferential policies for development. In particular, the meaning throughout the book that the collective of authors wants to convey is to encourage and motivate the young generation to nurture and preserve the "valuable capital" of youth, constantly develop and create more values to ensure a successful future, contributing to the completion of their historical mission. Among them, there are some typical articles such as: the article "The disease of fear of responsibility" by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong published in the Communist Magazine in 1973; "The issue of youth in Ho Chi Minh's thought" by Professor, Dr. Ta Ngoc Tan, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council; “Improving the effectiveness of ideological work for youth in the new situation” by Associate Professor, Dr. Le Hai Binh, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department; “The responsibility of young civil servants in the current period” by Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Minh Tuan, Deputy Editor-in-Chief in charge of the Communist Magazine; “Students, students, and youth of ethnic minorities cultivate virtue, train their talents, and strive to contribute to the development of the community and the nation” by Comrade Hau A Lenh, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister, and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee; “How can young intellectuals promote their responsibility and fulfill their historical role?” by Professor, Dr. Phung Huu Phu...

In the introduction to the book, former President Truong Tan Sang shared that, built on the idea of the article "The fear of responsibility" published in the Communist Magazine by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong when he was still an editor full of youthful energy, aspiration to contribute and the courage to "dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility", the book "Are young people afraid of responsibility?" is a sharing of views and thoughts about the young generation by authors who have been working in many different fields, with the common point of always caring, being attached to, and accompanying this force. “The refined analysis and belief in the future owners of the country expressed through each article will be an educational message, arousing love for the homeland, the country, and the spirit of dedication to the Fatherland in the young generation, urging them to promote their valuable assets of enthusiasm for dedication, the courage to innovate, be creative, and take charge, thereby boldly realizing their own determination, dreams, and ambitions, contributing to the goal of building a strong and developed Vietnam” - former President Truong Tan Sang affirmed./.
