In recent years, Vietnam has gradually become an ideal destination for foreigners and overseas Vietnamese not only for tourism but also for health care, medical treatment and beauty.

With the remarkable development of the medical industry, modern facilities and reasonable costs, Vietnam is increasingly asserting its position on the international medical map. Not only attracting tourists, but also being a place where many patients from developed countries come to seek treatment and high-quality beauty services.

Quality and cost

According to statistics from the Ministry of Health , each year there are about 300,000 international patients coming to Vietnam for treatment. This trend is increasing, especially in the context of Vietnamese hospitals, clinics and medical services constantly improving quality and service.

One of the important factors that makes Vietnam an attractive destination is the reasonable cost of treatment, only a fraction of that in developed countries but the quality is not inferior.

Ms. NTNA, a Vietnamese living in New Zealand. After undergoing 3 unsuccessful surgeries abroad, she returned to Vietnam for treatment.

She had a successful surgery at Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, and after only 10 days, her health had completely recovered. She was not only satisfied with the treatment results but also very touched by the dedicated care of the team of doctors and medical staff here.

One of the reasons why many foreigners, especially overseas Vietnamese, choose Vietnam is because of the extremely reasonable cost of treatment. Ms. Haley Nguyen, an overseas Vietnamese in the US, shared that she decided to return to Vietnam for beauty treatments because the cost here is much cheaper than in the US.

"I want to remove acne scars and tighten my face. In the US, the cost is too high, but in Vietnam, I only have to pay a fraction of the cost and don't have to wait long to make an appointment."

With modern cosmetic services such as cosmetic surgery, Botox injections, RF micro-needling, HIFU… Vietnam has attracted a large number of international customers, especially those who want to beautify at an affordable cost and with outstanding results.

In addition to beauty services, Vietnam also attracts international patients coming to treat serious illnesses such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, and chronic health problems.

For example, a thyroid cancer surgery in the US can cost up to $17,000, while at Tam Anh General Hospital, the cost is only 1/10 of that abroad. This not only saves costs but also creates access to high-quality medical services that patients can hardly find in their home country.

One of the areas in which Vietnam has made significant achievements is infertility treatment. Many foreign couples, especially from countries with developed healthcare systems such as Japan, Korea, and the US, have chosen Vietnam to perform in vitro fertilization (IVF).

The success rate at major hospitals such as Tu Du Hospital and Tam Anh General Hospital is currently very high, while the cost is only a fraction of that in other countries.

In addition, specialized hospitals such as the Central Dermatology Hospital also attract many international patients because of their effective treatments and short waiting times. Patients from Western countries, where long waiting times can be a big problem, have come to Vietnam for earlier and more effective treatment.

Great potential, wide open opportunities

Many medical experts and international medical tourism industry managers agree that Vietnam is making remarkable progress in providing medical services to international visitors.

Associate Professor, Dr. Le Huu Doanh, Director of the Central Dermatology Hospital, shared that Vietnam is increasingly affirming its position in the international cosmetic industry.

He said that the Central Dermatology Hospital is one of the facilities that attracts a large number of international patients, especially from Western countries, thanks to advanced beauty technologies such as 4D Laser, HIFU, and RF micro-needle. We can help patients receive effective treatment without having to endure long waiting times like in developed countries.

According to Dr. Nguyen Huu Hoang, Director of Tam Anh General Hospital, the fact that Vietnamese hospitals can provide specialized medical services at reasonable costs is attracting a large number of international patients.

“The quality of service in Vietnam has improved significantly in recent years, with a team of highly skilled doctors, modern facilities and especially reasonable treatment costs,” Dr. Hoang said in an interview with the press.

One of the international experts, Dr. John Miller, Director of the International Health Organization, when visiting Vietnam, commented that the quality of medical services in Vietnam has reached international standards, especially in the fields of aesthetics and cancer treatment.

With reasonable treatment costs and modern methods, Vietnam is becoming a popular destination for patients from developed countries."

Not only focusing on the quality of healthcare, Vietnam also combines tourism with medical services to attract international visitors. Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi have developed medical tourism service packages, allowing patients to not only receive treatment but also enjoy a wonderful vacation at high-end resorts and hotels.

This not only helps international visitors recover their health but also enjoy relaxing moments and visit famous scenic spots.

Vietnam is proving itself to be a destination not only for tourists but also for international patients seeking quality medical care at affordable costs.

Hospitals and medical facilities in the country are increasingly improved, not only in terms of facilities but also in terms of service quality, experienced doctors, and modern treatment methods.

Vietnam's healthcare sector not only meets domestic needs but is also ready to serve international patients, making the country an attractive destination for regional and international medical tourism.

With great strides in improving the quality of medical services, combined with tourism, Vietnam will certainly continue to attract a large number of customers from developed countries.

With this strong development, Vietnam's medical tourism industry not only opens up great opportunities for the economy but also helps to enhance the country's image in the international arena, affirming that Vietnam is not only a place for medical treatment but also a place to restore beauty, health and joy of life.
