On May 22nd, Mundo Deportivo reported that Yamal had lunch with his agent, "super agent" Jorge Mendes, in Barcelona.

After leaving the restaurant, Mendes made brief statements to the media. He affirmed: “Of course he will renew his contract, there’s no problem at all. Yamal is very happy. Everything will be finalized soon, don’t worry.”
