From March 11-16, 15 volunteers from the YMCA of Greater Houston (USA) collaborated with YMCA Vietnam to build and donate the "Toilet for Children" project at Tan Phu Tay Primary School and a charity house for disadvantaged households in Ben Tre province with a total cost of more than 300 million VND.

Specifically, the "Toilet for Children" project has upgraded and built 8 new large toilets, fully equipped with new and modern equipment and machinery, contributing to creating a comfortable living environment for more than 600 students studying at Tan Phu Tay Primary School (with a total cost of 229 million VND).

YACM also supported the construction of a charity house for the family of Ms. Giang Thi Tim (born in 1973), residing in Tan Thuan Ngoai hamlet, Tan Phu Tay commune, with an area of 32 square meters and a total cost of 81 million VND.

At the same time, volunteers also exchanged English, organized folk games, gave school supplies to students and 70 sets of English books to Tan Phu Tay Primary School.

Vice President of the Vietnam Youth Union of Ben Tre province Tran Kim Phang expressed his appreciation for the sentiments of American volunteers in accompanying local youth and people to carry out community projects.
In the coming time, the Provincial Youth Union and the Vietnam Youth Union of Ben Tre province hope to continue to connect with volunteers from many countries around the world, including the United States. From there, we will carry out more meaningful social security projects, contributing to strengthening the friendly relations between Vietnamese youth, Ben Tre youth and international youth and friends.
The YMCA of Greater Houston is an American organization, founded in 1886 with activities focusing on youth empowerment, social security, improving community health... In 2023, YMCA Vietnam connected many volunteers from the Singapore Institute of Technical Education (ITE), students from the National University of Singapore, Singapore Management University... to contribute and implement three projects "Schoolyard for Children", "Classroom for Children" in Ba Tri and Giong Trom districts (Ben Tre province), with a total cost of 170 million VND. |
