On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025), the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, the World Trade Organization (WTO) and other international organizations in Geneva held an informal meeting with representatives of press agencies in Switzerland.
Attending the meeting were Mr. Cung Duc Han - Ambassador, Deputy Head of the Vietnamese Delegation in Geneva; Mr. Alain Jourdan - Editor-in-Chief of La Tribune des Nations magazine, and Member of the Association of United Nations Correspondents (ACANU); Mr. Jean Musy - President of the Association of Foreign Journalists in Switzerland and Liechtenstein (APES), along with delegation officials and members of the Vietnam News Agency Resident Office in Geneva.
At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Head of the Delegation Cung Duc Han informed about all aspects, such as foreign affairs activities, relations between Vietnam and other countries, as well as the socio-economic development situation in Vietnam in recent times. In the context of the world facing many fluctuations, the Vietnamese Government is determined to implement 3 strategic pillars to make breakthroughs in development.
On this occasion, Ambassador Cung Duc Han also answered and informed journalists about topics related to the organization of the merged agencies, or the two-tier local government model. In addition, he also expressed his desire to continue strengthening cooperation between the delegation and press contacts in Geneva, hoping to receive support in upcoming important events.
For his part, Mr. Jean Musy expressed his honor to receive the invitation to attend the meeting on the occasion of Vietnam's 100th anniversary of Revolutionary Press Day. After many visits and working in Vietnam, he always had affection for the beautiful S-shaped country and affirmed that he would soon return to the Southeast Asian country to witness the era of the Vietnamese people's rise.
Meanwhile, Mr. Alain Jourdan shared his perspective on the interactive relationship between the press and the diplomatic sector, saying that it is necessary to focus on building relationships between the parties to ensure the best interaction, especially in the context of the current strong changes in the press.
Participants then continued to discuss topics related to the UN80 reform project, or the role of multilateralism in the face of current challenges.
On this occasion, the Vietnam News Agency Representative Office in Geneva also presented two Swiss journalists with a Vietnamese-English bilingual photo book "100 Years of Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism (1925-2025)" compiled and published by the News Agency Publishing House.
With more than 1,000 valuable documentary photos and many general articles, the book vividly recreates the development stages of revolutionary journalism associated with each step of change in Vietnam./.
