Ha Long Bay
Discover the magic of northern Vietnam’s most famous UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ha Long Bay is one of Southeast Asia’s most famous natural attractions, located less than a 3-hour drive from the capital city of Hanoi. It features a spectacular landscape of limestone karsts rising from the emerald sea, and numerous caves, such as Sung Sot Cave, where you’ll marvel at the stalactites and stalagmites as you explore.
Thien Mu Pagoda, Hue
Visit the most famous pagoda in Hue and admire the beautiful and intricate design of this architectural masterpiece. Thien Mu Pagoda attracts visitors to the banks of the Perfume River on Ha Khe Hill, just a few kilometers from the center of Hue city. The pagoda was built in the early 1600s and has had many different architectural structures added to the grounds since then. Perhaps the most famous is Phuoc Duyen Tower, built by King Thieu Tri in the late 1800s. Standing seven stories high, this octagonal tower has become an iconic image of the city.
Ba Ho Waterfall, Nha Trang
Outdoor enthusiasts will find a natural paradise near Nha Trang, along Vietnam’s stunning coastline. Located less than an hour north of the city, Ba Ho Waterfalls cascade over smooth rocks into three natural pools. Challenge yourself with a 30-minute hike through the rainforest to reach the first level of the waterfall. This first section is the most accessible and also the most visited.
Hanoi Old Quarter
One of the best things to do in Hanoi is to wander the vibrant Old Quarter for a rich cultural experience amidst 1,000-year-old pedestrian streets. Shopping for handicrafts and sampling delicious street food are popular activities here.
Notre Dame Cathedral, Ho Chi Minh City
Located in the heart of District 1 in Ho Chi Minh City, Notre Dame Cathedral is one of the city’s most popular attractions. Built in the mid-1800s by French colonists, the cathedral has been renovated three times throughout its history. Stroll through the cathedral’s courtyard for some great photos. Marvel at its neo-Romanesque architecture, impressive bell towers, and stunning stained glass windows.
Golden Bridge, Da Nang
Explore one of the world’s most unique bridges just outside the coastal city of Da Nang. Take a cable car ride through picturesque mountains to reach the famous bridge, and see waterfalls along the way. The bridge is held in place by two giant stone hands, representing a mountain deity. You’ll feel like you’re floating in the sky as you walk across this bridge and take in the stunning views all around.
Po Nagar Cham Towers
Dating from the 8th to 12th centuries, this three-story complex is a piece of history surrounded by a modern coastal city. Here, you can wander around the brick towers and enjoy views of Nha Trang, the East Sea and the Cai River. The most famous is the central tower, built in honor of the Goddess Po Nagar, who is believed to have created the land and rice. Po Nagar Towers are a great place to take photos and learn about the history of the Cham people.
Hoi An Ancient Town
Located near Da Nang, Hoi An is one of the most fascinating places to visit in Vietnam. A photographer’s paradise and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the city’s old town is a maze of quaint streets and canals. Shops sell a wide range of goods, from colourful lanterns to impeccably designed handmade clothing. Impressive architecture, a beautiful 18th-century bridge and charming cafes are just some of the highlights you’ll find here.
Cu Chi Tunnels, Ho Chi Minh City
Used during the war, the Cu Chi Tunnels were hand-dug and stretched for a total of 250km underground. The network of tunnels served as shelters, communications and supply depots, as well as a place to plan and prepare for attacks. Built between the late 1940s and 1960s, the extensive tunnel system can be explored with a guide, offering visitors a glimpse into military history and the life of a soldier during the war.
Marble Mountains
The Marble Mountains are located in the plains between Hoi An and Da Nang in central Vietnam, with five mountains named after the elements of Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth. This destination not only has beautiful scenery, but also offers a spiritual and historical experience. The best way to enjoy the scenic beauty of the Marble Mountains is to hike to the top, where you will be rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding area.
Yen Tu Pagoda
Yen Tu is a combination of architecture, culture, history and incredible landscapes, a candidate for UNESCO World Heritage Site status in the future. The most famous pagoda is Dong Pagoda, located at the highest point on Yen Tu Mountain.
