12 cases where social insurance is not paid when going to see a doctor or get medical treatment

According to the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Health Insurance 2024, the list of some cases not entitled to health insurance remains the same as the Law on Health Insurance 2014. However, the 7th and 8th cases in the new list have been amended and supplemented (in Clause 18, Article 1 of the Law on Health Insurance 2024).

Firstly, the costs paid by the State budget include: medical examination, treatment, rehabilitation, periodic pregnancy check-ups, childbirth; medical examination to screen and diagnose early some diseases.

Transporting patients from district level to higher level in emergency cases or when inpatient treatment requires technical transfer for some subjects: people with revolutionary contributions; people eligible for monthly social protection allowance according to the provisions of law; people from poor households; ethnic minorities living in areas with difficult or especially difficult socio -economic conditions; children under 6 years old; people from near-poor households.

Second, nursing and convalescence at specialized facilities.

Third, medical examination.

Fourth, pregnancy testing and diagnosis are not intended for treatment.

Fifth, use of assisted reproductive techniques, family planning services, abortion, except in cases of termination of pregnancy due to fetal or maternal illness.

Friday, cosmetic services.

Seventh, treatment of strabismus and refractive errors of the eye for people aged 18 and over (previously aged 6 and over).

Eighth, use of alternative medical devices such as artificial legs, artificial arms, artificial eyes, dentures, eyeglasses, hearing aids, and mobility aids in medical examination, treatment, and rehabilitation (formerly medical supplies).

Ninth, medical examination and treatment, rehabilitation in case of disaster.

Tenth, treatment of drug addiction, alcoholism or other addictive substances.

Eleventh, medical examination, forensic examination, forensic psychiatric examination.

Twelfth, participate in clinical trials, scientific research.
