Meritorious Artist Nguyen Van Hai used to be an actor of the Vietnam Drama Theater, then due to economic pressure, he left the stage to do business. When the economy was stable, he and his wife - People's Artist Le Ngoc founded Le Ngoc Theater - the first socialized theater in the North with many bright nights, many plays won high awards at home and abroad.

From Le Ngoc stage, Meritorious Artist Van Hai satisfied his passion for acting. In two plays, The 72nd Petition and The Order from the Heart , he played the role of Uncle Ho. The two plays created a buzz at home and abroad and were performed many times.

Therefore, Meritorious Artist Van Hai is proud that at present, he has played the role of Uncle Ho nearly 300 times.

The artist said that since he was a child, he heard his parents talk about Uncle Ho, and in him remained sacred feelings for the father of the nation. When he heard the news of his death, he stood under the loudspeaker at Hoan Kiem Lake and cried.

"Those memories remain in my mind, from then on I always remember the example and emotions of President Ho Chi Minh as the spiritual foundation of my life. During my time working at the Vietnam Drama Theater, I also learned from my senior colleagues such as artists Manh Linh, Ha Van Trong, Duc Trung, who played the role of Uncle Ho. They were very successful in not only capturing the emotions of the audience but also making their colleagues truly appreciate them," Meritorious Artist Van Hai said.

Having played Uncle Ho nearly 300 times, Meritorious Artist Van Hai still wishes to portray the leader more fully, longer and more deeply, and to go more into his real life.

"A leader respected by the whole nation and the whole world like President Ho Chi Minh will always be a creative inspiration for authors and artists. Currently, the stage is in need of more good scripts about President Ho Chi Minh and other leaders," the artist affirmed.

Artist Minh Hai is currently an actor at the Vietnam Drama Theater. Up to now, he has played the role of Uncle Ho for 15 years.

It is difficult for artist Minh Hai to remember exactly how many times he has played the role of the great leader Ho Chi Minh. Roughly, there must be more than 50 works from stage, movies, television to art programs and animations.

In the drama genre, he participated in works such as: Uncle Ho goes to battle, Tears in the Pac Bo forest, Uncle is not a king, The old man in the countryside, New Year's Eve, Uncle Ho wishes Ms. Tin's family a happy new year, White night ... In the feature film genre, he transformed into the role of Nguyen Ai Quoc in the film Overcoming the Shanghai wharf . In the television feature film genre, Minh Hai participated in Independent Will produced by the Vietnam Writers' Association Film Studio.

This special opportunity came to him in 2009, when he joined the production crew of a VTV stage show. During the production of the play Uncle Ho Goes to Battle , an actor could not be found to play the role of Uncle Ho. Finally, someone in the crew recommended... Minh Hai because he looked similar to him.

With 16 years of experience playing Uncle Ho, artist Minh Hai is very cautious. Every time he is assigned a role, he is willing to shave his hair to make it easier for the makeup department to create his appearance. So much so that when he returns home, everyone only needs to see his new hair to know that he is about to play Uncle Ho.

The artist confided: "Whether it's 100 performances or 150 times playing Uncle Ho, for me each time there is something fresh and different. When I go on stage, I'm still nervous, still find everything new."
