20,000 athletes compete at the 8th Techcombank Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon 2025

The Techcombank Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon is a collaboration between the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, the Ho Chi Minh City Athletics Federation, with the strategic support of Techcombank and the organizer Sunrise Events Vietnam.

2025 marks the eighth edition of the event, which is considered the city's sporting icon, attracting tens of thousands of domestic and international athletes.

Mr. Pham Huy Binh, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism , said that this year's season is a highlight in the series of events of Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Week 2025. According to him, the competition items not only demonstrate the creative and sustainable spirit of the city after the merger, but also reflect the development vision of Ho Chi Minh City as a leading tourism-sports center in the region.

“We hope the race will bring a better experience to athletes and tourists, thereby contributing to promoting the image of a dynamic, friendly and vibrant city,” said Mr. Pham Huy Binh.

From a sports perspective, Mr. Nguyen Nam Nhan, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, commented that the marathon not only has professional value but is also an important cultural and social activity. He emphasized that the tournament contributes to building a dynamic and healthy lifestyle for the people and encourages the mass sports movement. "We hope that the event will continue to be a driving force for the development of community sports, affirming the pioneering role of Ho Chi Minh City in combining sports, tourism and culture," said Mr. Nhan.

Ms. Thai Minh Diem Tu, Director of Marketing at Techcombank, affirmed that the Bank will continue to accompany the tournament for a long time. “With the spirit of 'Running for a superior Vietnam', Techcombank is committed to bringing breakthrough initiatives, contributing to elevating the sporting event named after the city,” she shared.

Sunrise Events Vietnam General Director Rob Zamacona said the Organizing Committee is aiming to achieve the World Athletics Label – a prestigious certification in the global marathon community. He emphasized that the race not only inspires millions of Vietnamese people but also contributes to making Ho Chi Minh City a leading sports destination in Asia. “We will continue to apply technology and data to personalize the journey for athletes, increase community interaction and expand the scale of the event in the future," he said.

4.2 billion VND from the tournament will be donated to charity.

Another highlight of the season is the charity event “Run for the future of Vietnamese children” launched by Techcombank and the Touch of Love Fund. Through the online race on the VRUN platform, taking place from October 27 to November 17, 2025, the program aims to raise 4.2 billion VND to support surgery and rehabilitation for children with lower limb deformities.

This year, the Techcombank Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon is expected to attract more than 20,000 athletes, continuing to spread the spirit of “living beyond” and enhancing the city’s image as a symbol of youth and integration.

Before the official tournament takes place on December 7, 2025, the 10th World Congress on Mass Sports (MPW25) will be held in Ho Chi Minh City on December 4-5 with the theme "From Event to Ecosystem". The conference brings together international experts in the fields of sports, tourism and health to share experiences in building a comprehensive sports ecosystem. After the conference, tens of thousands of athletes will start on the AIMS-standard route - where achievements are recognized on the global marathon system, opening up opportunities to prestigious tournaments such as the Boston Marathon or London Marathon.
