21 people injured in student bus overturn in Gia Lai

Regarding the student bus accident that occurred on National Highway 19 on the morning of April 22, the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Health has just issued a quick report on the health of patients being treated at the General Hospital, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital - Hoang Anh Gia Lai, and Hung Vuong Gia Lai Hospital.

As of this afternoon's report, there were 21 injured in the accident , including 20 students and 1 driver. All patients were given emergency care and treated at medical facilities in the province.

Gia Lai Provincial General Hospital received emergency treatment and treatment for: 3 patients who are students, including 1 patient diagnosed with cervical spine injury, being treated at the Department of Neurology - Spine, currently in stable health condition; 1 patient diagnosed with right shoulder injury, being treated at the Department of Trauma Surgery, in stable health condition; 1 patient diagnosed with chest injury, being treated at the Department of General Surgery, in stable health condition.

At the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital - Hoang Anh Gia Lai, the emergency admission and treatment were: 3 patients who were students, including 1 patient diagnosed with: Monitoring traumatic brain injury/multiple trauma, through clinical and paraclinical examination results, the health condition was stable, discharged from the hospital; 1 patient diagnosed with clavicle fracture, closed thoracoabdominal trauma, currently the patient is undergoing surgery; 1 patient diagnosed with complex elbow and hand injuries, monitoring: Closed thoracoabdominal trauma, currently the patient is undergoing surgery.

The patient is being monitored at Hung Vuong Gia Lai Hospital.

At Hung Vuong Gia Lai Hospital, 15 patients were admitted for emergency treatment, including 14 students and 1 driver. Currently, 6 patients have been hospitalized for further monitoring and treatment; 9 patients are being monitored at the Emergency Department.

Earlier, at around 6:30 this morning, on National Highway 19, through Thanh Binh village, Binh Giao commune, Chu Prong district (Gia Lai province), an accident occurred, injuring many students.

The 30-seat school bus with license plate 81F-001.88, driven by Phan Dinh Du (born in 1968, residing in Binh Giao commune, Chu Prong district), was traveling from Duc Co district to Pleiku city.

The bus was carrying about 20 middle and high school students in Chu Prong district. The bus crashed from Highway 19 into a house, 5 meters below the road surface.

Currently, the authorities are continuing to investigate and clarify the cause of the accident.
