27 months in prison for 02 subjects blocking the road, smashing an ambulance

Representative of Tra Vinh City People's Procuracy passed the indictment .

According to the indictment, on the afternoon of May 31, 2023, the ambulance transported a patient from Cho Ray Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City) to Thien An Hospital (Tra Vinh City) for further treatment. When reaching the section belonging to Ward 7, Tra Vinh City, they saw two motorbikes belonging to Danh, Chi and Huynh Thuy Nhi (24 years old), residing in Long Thanh Town, Duyen Hai District, running in the same direction ahead, so the driver honked the horn to give priority and overtook them. Danh and Chi thought they were being forced by the ambulance, so they drove their motorbikes after them. When they reached the area near Tra Vinh Provincial General Hospital, they blocked the vehicle. After that, Danh and Chi used bricks and stones to damage the ambulance, then drove away.

During the investigation and verification process, the police quickly summoned Danh, Chi and Nhi to work. At the police station, Danh and Chi admitted to their crimes. According to the appraisal conclusion, the total property damage was more than 5 million VND.

At the trial, Danh and Chi expressed remorse for their actions. When given the final say, both wished the jury to consider reducing their sentences.

After reviewing the details of the case, the Trial Panel of Tra Vinh City People's Court sentenced defendant Ha Quang Danh to 18 months in prison and defendant Nguyen Thi My Chi to 9 months in prison.
