With this result, the Vietnamese IOI team is in the group of 4 countries and territories with the highest results in the medal tally, after the US, Japan and Poland.
In 2023, Vietnam's achievement is Top 9 with 1 Gold medal, 2 Silver medals and 1 Bronze medal.
The 36th IOI was held live from September 1-6 in Alexandria, Egypt with the participation of 353 candidates from 91 countries and territories (in addition to Russia, Belarus and Australia competing under the Olympic flag).

The International Olympiad in Informatics has two official competition days. On each competition day, candidates will take a 5-hour computer programming test and solve 3 problems with rich content. The results are automatically graded online by the system and the live scoreboard is announced throughout the two competition days (online).
This year's exam is highly difficult, requiring candidates to be able to apply knowledge flexibly and be creative.
