6,543 gifts to support blind people in difficult circumstances

(CT) – According to Mr. Hoang Quyet Thang, Chairman of the Association of the Blind in Can Tho City, the Association has 2,365 members. Since the beginning of the year, the Association of the Blind at all levels has made efforts to maintain activities to care for its members. The city currently has 17 poor member households, accounting for 0.7%; 63 near-poor member households, accounting for 2.6%. All members eligible for social security policies have been fully provided according to regulations. In the past 6 months, 164 member households have borrowed nearly 5 billion VND from the national employment fund to develop production and small business; more than 1,400 members have jobs. The Association of the Blind in the city has helped 50 members work in massage, with an average income of 4-8 million VND/person/month, depending on their skills. The Association of the Blind at all levels has coordinated to mobilize 6,543 gifts, worth nearly 3.4 billion VND, to support blind people in difficult circumstances during holidays and Tet; Monthly rice support for 56 especially disadvantaged members in districts: Binh Thuy, Thot Not, Phong Dien and Co Do.
