On the occasion of the official visit to the French Republic by General Secretary andPresident To Lam, on October 7, 2024, Vietnam and France issued a joint statement on upgrading their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
With this decision, France becomes the first country in the EU to have a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam.
As of October 2024, Vietnam has comprehensive strategic partnerships with 8 countries, including China (2008), the Russian Federation (2012), India (2016), South Korea (2022), the United States (September 2023), Japan (November 2023), Australia (March 2024) and France (October 2024)./.
