The project started in 2005 with a total investment of more than 1 billion USD, implemented by Egypt in collaboration with many international partners. With its iconic design, the Grand Egyptian Museum is not only a space to display heritage but also a center for research, conservation and education on Egyptian history and culture.
Located near the Giza Pyramids, the Grand Museum covers an area of over 480,000 square meters, overlooking the pyramids, and displays over 57,000 artifacts, including the entire treasure trove of King Tutankhamun, presented in full for the first time since the tomb was discovered in 1922.

During his State visit to Egypt in August 2025, President Luong Cuong respectfully presented the Grand Egyptian Museum with a replica of the Ngoc Lu Bronze Drum - a typical cultural symbol of Vietnam, demonstrating the friendship and cultural exchange between Vietnam and Egypt, two nations with long-standing civilizations.
Presiding over the inauguration ceremony, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed that the Grand Egyptian Museum is “a new chapter in the history of the nation”, a living symbol of Egyptian civilization and human intelligence. He called for the Grand Museum to become a symbol of dialogue, knowledge, peace and human cooperation.

UNESCO considers the Grand Museum to offer Egyptian and international visitors a unique opportunity to travel through more than 5,000 years of ancient Egyptian civilization.
The Grand Museum's official opening is expected to attract about five million visitors each year, affirming its position as a global symbol of culture and heritage, contributing to promoting tourism development and promoting the image of modern Egypt with rich identity.
