McTominay is being pursued by Al-Hilal. |
Joining the southern Italian side from Manchester United for £25m last summer, the Scottish midfielder quickly became a mainstay in Antonio Conte's tactical scheme. McTominay scored 12 goals in Serie A, playing a key role in Napoli's dramatic finale to win the title.
His impressive form earned him the Serie A Player of the Season award - a well-deserved recognition for his consistent contributions. However, after just one season, McTominay was soon on the radar of Al-Hilal.
According to Football Italia , the wealthy Saudi Arabian team plans to spend a lot of money to recruit him, in the context that they have just lost the title to Al-Ittihad. Al-Hilal currently owns many famous stars such as Joao Cancelo, Kalidou Koulibaly and Aleksandar Mitrovic.
New Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi, who led the team last season, is keen to add McTominay to his already potent midfield alongside Ruben Neves and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. Al-Hilal have reportedly made an initial offer to Napoli.
However, coach Conte considers McTominay "untouchable" in his squad. The Italian strategist has just agreed to continue staying at Diego Maradona Stadium on the condition that the club does not sell important pillars.
Therefore, Napoli immediately rejected the offer from Al-Hilal, which was considered expensive. However, the Saudi Arabian team is unlikely to give up and may return with a more attractive price.
Meanwhile, Napoli are waiting for a big payday from Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian striker turned down a £63m offer from Al-Hilal to wait for his chance in Europe. Last summer, Napoli demanded £100m when Chelsea were interested, but now they are willing to let Osimhen go for just £40m.
