Warm houses of love in Ngoc Lac

Officials of the People's Committee of Ngoc Lac district and Tran ward, Ngoc Lac town regularly visit and encourage the family of Mr. Pham Van Thuong (far left) during the construction of the Great Unity house.

After many years of living in a dilapidated old house, the dream of living in a spacious house of Mr. Le Hong Can, born in 1933, in village 12, Lam Son commune, has come true. Mr. Can's family is a policy beneficiary of revolutionary contributions. If there were no humane policy of Directive No. 22-CT/TU of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, the dream of a solid house would have been a lifelong dream for him. It has been nearly 4 months since he lived in the new house, but for Mr. Can, the unexpected happiness is still intact. Mr. Can shared: "So from now on, every time winter comes, I don't have to run back and forth looking for canvas to block the wind and rain anymore." The Great Unity House was built with a support fund of 80 million VND, so it has a very special meaning for an elderly person like him.

The household of Mr. Pham Van Thuong (born in 1983) is a poor household in Tran quarter, Ngoc Lac town. As the main breadwinner for his family, in 2023, while working, Mr. Thuong had an accident and was no longer able to do heavy work. His family's housing situation was especially difficult. He, his elderly mother and two young children had to live in a dilapidated, leaky house of about 30 square meters that could collapse at any time. In March 2025, Mr. Thuong received 80 million VND from the Steering Committee for the campaign to build houses for poor households, policy households, and households with housing difficulties in Ngoc Lac district to build a Great Unity house.

Mrs. Bui Thi Do, Thuong's mother, emotionally shared: "My son is the main breadwinner in the family, and now unfortunately he has an accident. I am very touched by the support of the government, the sharing and care of everyone for the family. In just 1 month, the 4 of us, my mother and I, will have a new, spacious house. I can only send my thanks to the government, relatives, and neighbors. In the coming time, the family will try to overcome difficulties, continue to work, increase production, rise out of poverty, and stabilize our lives."

The joy of Mr. Can and Mr. Thuong is also the common feeling of 385 households in Ngoc Lac district who received support to build houses; of which 289 households were supported in the spirit of Directive No. 22-CT/TU of the Provincial Party Standing Committee on the Campaign to support housing construction for poor households, policy families, and households with housing difficulties in the province, 46 households were supported under the National Target Program in 2024.

Mr. Le Cong Tam, Vice Chairman of Ngoc Lac District People's Committee, said: "Considering the implementation of Directive No. 22-CT/TU as a key program of the district, the Party Committee, the government, and the Fatherland Front from the district to the communes, towns, neighborhoods, and villages have implemented it in a systematic and scientific manner, with special attention paid to propaganda and mobilization work, creating high consensus throughout the district. Along with calling on cadres, party members, union members, and people, the district has actively mobilized businesses to join hands in support, creating a widespread movement, attracting the participation of many classes of people. As of April 24, 2025, the district's "For the Poor" Fund has received nearly 19 billion VND in funding to support the construction of houses for poor households, policy families, and households with housing difficulties (phase 2) in 2025. Each completed and donated house of gratitude has helped one more poor family stabilize their life and settle down. This is also a practical gift, with humane meaning, showing the affection and responsibility of the Party Committee, the government, cadres, party members and people in the province towards poor households, policy households, and households with housing difficulties in Ngoc Lac district.
