Impact of storm WIPHA: Afternoon rain in Vinh Long, thunderstorms in some places

Early this morning (July 18), the tropical depression in the sea east of the Philippines strengthened into a storm, international name WIPHA.

According to the Vinh Long Province Hydrometeorological Station, at 7:00 a.m. on July 18, the center of the storm was located at about 17.0 degrees North latitude; 124.5 degrees East longitude, in the sea east of Lu Dong Island (Philippines). The strongest wind near the center of the storm was level 8 (62 - 74 km/h), gusting to level 10; moving northwest at a speed of about 20 km/h.

From the next 72 to 120 hours, the storm moved mainly to the West, traveling 15 - 20km per hour and gradually weakened.

Forecast of storm impact: from the afternoon of July 18, the eastern sea area of the North East Sea will have strong winds of level 6 - 7, the area near the storm's center will have strong winds of level 8 - 9, gusting to level 11; waves 3 - 5m high. The sea will be very rough.

Ships operating in the above mentioned dangerous areas are likely to be affected by storms, whirlwinds, strong winds and large waves.

Weather in Vinh Long province in the next 24 hours, cloudy, from now until noon the clouds will decrease and the sun will be intermittent, in the afternoon there will be rain in about half of the area and thunderstorms in some places. The rain is mainly concentrated in the East and Southeast of the province ( Tra Vinh and the east of old Ben Tre). During thunderstorms, beware of strong gusts of wind and tornadoes. Southwest wind level 2, coastal winds sometimes level 3.

Weather in Vinh Long sea area in the next 24 hours, cloudy, with showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Southwest wind level 4, sometimes level 5, offshore sometimes gusting to level 6. Wave height 1 - 2m. Sea is normal, offshore sometimes slightly rough.

Ships operating at sea regularly monitor and update the location and path of the storm to have direction of movement and find safe shelter.
