This move was made as a precaution, although the company has not recorded any cases of fire or explosion related to its backup batteries in Vietnam.
The four power bank models subject to recall include: Anker 10,000 mAh 22.5 W (product code A1257); Anker 20,000 mAh 22.5 W with integrated USB-C cable (code A1647); Anker Zolo 20,000 mAh 30W with integrated USB-C and Lightning cable (code A1681) and Anker Zolo 20,000 mAh 30W with integrated USB-C cable (code A1689).

These products are widely distributed at electronics retail stores and on e-commerce platforms in Vietnam. There is currently no specific information on the number of products that will be recalled in this recall.
To check if your backup battery is subject to recall, users can check the product number printed on the bottom of the device. If you own a recalled battery, users should immediately contact the supplier or point of sale for instructions on how to recall or return the product.
Anker recommends that consumers do not continue to use the recalled power banks. Instead, they should be stored in a plastic case, in a safe, visible location, away from flammable materials to prevent possible accidents.

Anker is an electronics company based in Shenzhen, China, founded in 2011 and known as the world's number one brand of power banks.
The recall in Vietnam comes after Anker had to carry out major recalls in the international market. In mid-June, Anker recalled more than 1.15 million backup batteries in the US market due to the risk of fire and explosion.
In the US, there have been a total of 19 reported fires involving these products, causing minor burns to users and an estimated $60,700 in property damage.
Last week, Anker and many other Chinese technology companies such as Xiaomi, Romoss, Baseus... also simultaneously recalled many models of backup batteries in the Chinese market for the same reason. These products were also recorded for sale on e-commerce platforms in Vietnam.
The main reason for the mass recall of these backup chargers is because they use battery cells supplied by Amprius (USA).
According to China's 3C standards inspection agency, Amprius battery cells pose a risk of causing fire and explosion in power banks after a long period of use, especially when the device operates continuously, causing the battery temperature to increase.
However, up to now, Anker is the only company that has officially announced a product recall in the Vietnamese market.
