Antony: Moving to Real Betis was the best decision of his career

Antony moved to Real Betis from Man United on loan in January 2025 and his contract will expire at the end of this season.

Previously, when the Brazilian striker was recruited by Man United in the summer of 2022, he was expected a lot because of the 100 million euros paid to Ajax to get Antony's signature.

Former coach Erik Ten Hag - who worked with Antony at Ajax - played a key role in the deal.

However, Antony left a disappointing time at Man United. In 96 appearances for the "Red Devils", he only scored 12 goals and had only 5 assists. In addition, he caused a lot of unnecessary noise at Old Trafford.

Therefore, coach Ruben Amorim decided to push Antony out on loan to Real Betis.

In Spain, the 25-year-old striker has been in great form. He has scored 4 goals and provided 4 assists in just 12 games in all competitions for Real Betis.

Betis boss Pellegrini has been hugely impressed with Antony and has pointed to the winger's complete transformation since his move from Man United.

Speaking to El Larguero , Pellegrini said: "Antony is a very special case. When players are paid 100 million euros, it is not a coincidence. He certainly has special qualities to achieve that figure. I will not analyze his previous time at Man United."

Coach Pellegrini continued: "Antony comes here with the determination to prove his real class. He has more potential to become a world- class player."

Antony himself has also revealed his future and publicly expressed that he is very happy at Real Betis.

Mundo Deportivo quoted the winger: "I am very happy at Real Betis, moving here is probably the best decision of my career. But it is still too early to talk about the future. I am enjoying every day in the Real Betis shirt."
