After 19 rounds, Arsenal is the club with the worst performance compared to the same period of last season in the Premier League.
After half of the 2023-2024 season, Mikel Arteta's team won 12 matches, drew four, lost three and ranked second with 40 points - two points behind Liverpool.
That’s not a bad result, but it’s a far cry from where they were at the same point last season. Arsenal were top of the table with 50 points, thanks to 16 wins, two draws and one defeat. That means they’re ten points behind – the biggest gap any team has had in the Premier League this season.

Fulham are the other club to fall ten points behind, partly due to the loss of key striker Aleksandar Mitrovic to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal, followed by Newcastle (nine points) and Man Utd (eight points) - two clubs hit hard by injuries.
In contrast, West Ham have made the biggest progress, winning 18 points. David Moyes' team is currently sixth with 33 points. Last season, West Ham won the Europa Conference League but struggled in the Premier League. In the most recent round, David Moyes' team surprisingly won 2-0 away to Arsenal.
Behind West Ham is Aston Villa with 14 more points. Their excellent form since the beginning of the season, including victories over Man City, Arsenal, and Chelsea with the same score of 1-0, has helped the Villa Park team have the best start in the club's history and currently stand in third place.
Liverpool also won 13 more points to top the first stage of this season, followed by Everton (11 points), Bournemouth (9), Wolves (8) and Tottenham (3).
"A year is a long time in football, especially in the Premier League. Giants can fall, weak clubs can rise and challengers can sink into oblivion. That's the beauty of football," commented British newspaper Sunsport .
