Hanoi Police Club 'ties down' Van Thanh and Nguyen Filip

On May 20, the Hanoi Police Club (CAHN) announced the future of player Vu Van Thanh, after rumors that the Vietnamese national team defender would move to play for the The Cong - Viettel team.

"Regarding the club's personnel situation, specifically, player Vu Van Thanh will continue to be a pillar of CAHN Club next season. Similar to the case of Nguyen Filip", CAHN Club informed.

Previously, there were some rumors that Van Thanh would join The Cong - Viettel after the 2024-2025 season with huge benefits. Van Thanh's old contract with CAHN Club was valid until June 2025 and he currently has the right to freely negotiate with other teams.

CAHN Club will likely announce a new contract with Van Thanh in the next few days, similar to Nguyen Filip. Recently, Filip has also been rumored to move abroad to play. The Czech goalkeeper himself has also expressed his desire to try his hand in Asian football outside of Vietnam.

Van Thanh said goodbye to Hoang Anh Gia Lai and joined CAHN Club from the beginning of 2023. During nearly 2 and a half years wearing the CAHN Club shirt, Thanh scored 7 goals and made 17 assists in V-League.

Van Thanh and Filip both have many important contributions and influences in the playing style of the police team. On the international transfer website Transfermarkt, Van Thanh and Filip are valued at 300,000 euros (equivalent to nearly 9 billion VND) and 500,000 euros (more than 14.6 billion VND) respectively.

At the national team level, Van Thanh debuted for the U23/Vietnam national team very early (in 2016). Through many coaches, the defender born in 1996 has always had a place in the national teams and has achieved many successes with the team, such as winning the runner-up position at the 2018 U23 Asian Cup and winning the 2018 AFF Cup.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Filip has been on the national team since 2024, playing as a starting goalkeeper continuously before losing the No. 1 position to Nguyen Dinh Trieu from the 2024 ASEAN Cup until now.
