Australia sends strong 'reinforcements' for coach Kim Sang-sik to compete with MU

Previously, Incheon United defender Harrison Delbridge was called up to strengthen the team. Most recently, Football Federation Australia announced that they have sent 3 more faces to the ASEAN All-Stars squad. These 3 players are Adrian Segecic (Sydney FC), Yaya Dukuly (Adelaide United) and Kealey Adamson (Macarthur FC).

They joined the other ASEAN players a day before the match. Now, coach Kim Sang-sik has enough players and is starting to practice.

This is a friendly match but still attracts the attention of the whole region because it has 12 representatives from 12 countries of the Southeast Asian Football Federation including Australia. Vietnam has Duy Manh, Hoang Duc, Van Vi and Hai Long. But besides Vietnam, not many teams send their best players.

Indonesia only contributed Ferrari, they brought in Asnawi to prepare for the big match with China in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Malaysia also only contributed unexceptional players, those who were eliminated from the June training session. The same is true of Australia.

The four players are not important members of the national team. Australia only contributes a lot in terms of quantity, not quality. This decision is not surprising because in June, Australia has two difficult matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with Saudi Arabia and Japan.

Australia needs to defend its second place, with a direct ticket to the 2026 World Cup. So it is not difficult to predict that this team will only contribute average quality players to the ASEAN All Stars.

In general, countries have their own calculations so they cannot bring their strongest squad.
