On May 21, the Medical Center of Ba Ria City, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, announced that a COVID-19 outbreak had just been detected in the city and the Center quickly took action to handle the outbreak.
Accordingly, 3 cases are 12th grade students of a high school in Long Tam ward, Ba Ria city, were confirmed positive for SARS-CoV-2 virus through rapid testing. These are the first cases recorded in the province in this new wave.
The area of Ba Ria City Medical Center handling the outbreak includes the school and 3 related households in Long Phuoc commune, Hoa Long commune and Phuoc Nguyen ward, Ba Ria city.
Immediately after detecting the outbreak, the city's medical force conducted an epidemiological investigation at the school and households. Initial results showed that there were no new cases other than the three cases mentioned above. However, the work of screening at-risk subjects is still continuing to isolate and thoroughly control the epidemic.
Disinfection and environmental sanitation activities have also been deployed simultaneously by the Ba Ria City Medical Center at schools, patient homes and neighboring areas.
Medical staff directly instructed people to use Cloramin B and disinfectant solutions to clean surfaces, houses and household utensils.
Patients are required to wear masks, self-isolate at home for at least 5 days and limit contact with others until the end of the 10th day from the onset of symptoms or positive test results.
The medical team also strengthened epidemic surveillance for 8 days, closely monitoring the appearance of new cases and compliance with disinfection at home and school.
Faced with new developments of the COVID-19 epidemic, the Department of Health of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province has just issued a document to deploy epidemic prevention and control work in the area.
Accordingly, the Provincial Department of Health requested the Provincial Center for Disease Control to closely monitor the epidemic situation in the province, strengthen the implementation of disease prevention and control measures at medical facilities and in the community; continue to implement sustainable control and management activities for the COVID-19 epidemic in the period of 2023-2025 according to the decision of the Ministry of Health .
Ba Ria Hospital, Vung Tau Hospital, medical centers of districts and cities guide patients and caregivers to implement disease prevention measures at medical facilities; strengthen infection prevention, especially respiratory infections. At the same time, medical facilities carry out timely admission and treatment for patients; strengthen protection for patients in high-risk groups./.
