Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Japan's Izumiotsu city strengthen cooperation

On May 21, Mr. Nguyen Cong Vinh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, together with leaders of departments, branches and localities, received and worked with the delegation of Izumiotsu city, Osaka province, Japan, led by Mr. Minamide Kenichi, Mayor of Izumiotsu city.

Introducing to the Izumiotsu City Delegation, the leader of the People's Committee of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province informed that there are currently more than 40 Japanese FDI projects in the province with a total registered investment capital of about 3.1 billion USD, most concentrated in Phu My 1 Industrial Park and Phu My 3 Specialized Industrial Park (Phu My town). Japan ranks 5th in the group of countries with large investment capital in the province.

Investment areas focus on steel production, industrial glass, rare chemicals, industrial gases, packaging paper, garments, seaports, etc.

To support Japanese enterprises, since 2014, the province has established and put into operation the Japan Desk to provide information on investment potential and advantages, guide procedures and processes related to production and business activities in the province and support other related issues.

Izumiotsu is a city closely associated with Ba Ria-Vung Tau province. The two sides have had 10 years of experience in signing and implementing the Memorandum of Understanding on economic cooperation.

Since 2014, the two localities have carried out many exchange and cooperation activities. Specifically, the two sides organized a workshop to introduce Ba Ria-Vung Tau province in Izumiotsu city (2015); received civil servants of Izumiotsu city to work at the Japan Desk Office in Ba Ria-Vung Tau (2017-2019 period).

During the 2020-2022 period, despite the complicated developments of COVID-19, the two localities still exchanged information regularly and continuously. Thanks to the support of Izumiotsu City, activities to attract Japanese investment in Ba Ria-Vung Tau have made remarkable progress.

Diplomatic work, connecting Ba Ria-Vung Tau province with Japanese businesses and investors is strongly promoted.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Cong Vinh emphasized that the leaders of the two localities are very interested in promoting and strengthening the development of the friendly and cooperative relationship between Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Izumiotsu city.

According to the 2021-2030 period planning, with a vision to 2050, recently approved by the Prime Minister, the province is focusing on developing Ba Ria-Vung Tau into a marine economic center, an international-class high-quality tourism center, a center for developing high-quality service industries, and one of the largest industrial centers in the Southeast region.

Ba Ria-Vung Tau is very pleased to continue implementing economic cooperation activities with Izumiotsu city on the basis of the 2014 Memorandum of Understanding on economic cooperation and to exchange and expand cooperation areas, especially in the fields of agriculture, education, personnel exchange and human resource development, cultural exchange, healthcare, response to emergencies such as natural disasters, pandemics or food risks, etc.

The cooperation activities in the coming time promise to help enhance mutual understanding between the people of the two localities, bring about common prosperity, and contribute to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world between Vietnam and Japan.

Mr. Minamide Kenichi, Mayor of Izumiotsu City, shared his good impressions of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province. Over the past 10 years, the two localities have built a deep relationship in many areas such as investment, human resource development, education, seaports... bringing positive results.

Mr. Minami Kenichi hopes that in 2024, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province and Izumiotsu city will continue to work together in the fields being implemented and strengthen cooperation between the authorities and businesses of the two localities, affirming and enhancing the relationship between Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Izumiotsu city.

In September 2024, Izumiotsu City will organize a program to introduce agricultural products of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province. Through this event, the province's agricultural products will be closer to the people of Izumiotsu City in particular and the people of Japan in general, which is a premise for developing the export of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province's strong agricultural products to the Japanese market./.
