Summer is the time when TE have the habit of inviting each other to go swimming in ponds, lakes, rivers, streams... Swimming freely in cool water in the hot weather is a joy for children, but there is a high risk of drowning if there is no supervision from adults. Therefore, in the past time, Phuoc Thanh commune has organized the installation of warning signs and prohibiting swimming in ponds and lakes; at the same time, propagandizing and mobilizing households to fence around ponds and wells in their fields, thereby minimizing the risk of drowning in TE. Comrade Chamaléa Nhien, Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuoc Thanh Commune, said: With the characteristics of a mountainous commune, the area near Song Sat Lake, many large streams and more than 30 ponds and wells dug by people to store water for irrigation, there are many potential dangers of natural disasters, so in the past time, the commune has regularly propagated on the radio system to each village so that families can raise awareness, promote a sense of responsibility in managing their children, and avoid the occurrence of natural disasters.
Bac Ai strengthens measures to prevent child drowning during the summer
Bac Ai district currently has many lakes, rivers, streams, spillways, dams, ponds, and lakes. In recent times, it has often rained in the area, the water in these areas flows continuously and is often a place for children to gather to play and swim. To prevent drowning incidents in children, the district has directed localities to organize inspections, screenings, and timely detection of areas at risk of drowning incidents to take proactive measures to prevent and promptly warn such as: Building fences at ponds near homes, posting warning signs in places where accidents are likely to occur... At the same time, increase the dissemination of drowning prevention measures to parents; coordinate with all levels and sectors to guide, advise, and educate children on knowledge and skills on drowning prevention and safety. Thanks to that, the number of drowning incidents in the district has decreased significantly. According to the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Bac Ai district, from 2021 to now, there have been 3 cases of drowning in children in the district. The reason is that children do not know how to swim, do not have the skills to handle drowning incidents, and the living environment of children is not safe. Areas with ponds, lakes, rivers and streams are rarely visited, so when children fall into a dangerous situation, they do not receive timely help from adults.
Comrade Can Thi Ha, Vice Chairman of Bac Ai District People's Committee said: To minimize child abuse, especially during the summer, the district continues to direct localities to strengthen the work of preventing and combating child abuse; urgently review areas where child abuse often occurs, areas at risk of child abuse and other unsafe risks to take proactive and timely preventive measures, ensuring the safety of children. Strengthen propaganda on mass media, distribute documents and communication messages on child abuse prevention and combat. Raise awareness among families in caring for, managing and protecting children in daily recreational activities to avoid child abuse. Direct the People's Committees of communes to coordinate with departments, branches and organizations to strictly manage children during the time they are not in school, especially during the summer. Organize and mobilize households to commit to building safe houses, ensuring the safety of children...
