Bac Ninh: Developing the multi-purpose value of forest ecosystems by 2030, with a vision to 2050

BAC NINH - Vice Chairman of Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee Le Xuan Loi has just signed Plan No. 137/KH-UBND to implement the Project "Developing multi-use values ​​of forest ecosystems to 2030, vision to 2050" to synchronously deploy the goals and tasks according to Decision No. 208/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister.

The plan aims to improve the efficiency of management and sustainable use of forest resources; develop forestry associated with people's livelihoods, conserve biodiversity, develop ecotourism and forest environmental services.

By 2030, the province strives to have a large timber plantation area of ​​24,000 hectares; timber output of over 1.3 million m³/year; economic value per unit of cultivated area increased by 20% or more in addition to the value of planted forest timber; forming a medicinal plant growing area of ​​about 400 hectares; total revenue from forest environmental services increasing by an average of 5%/year; community tourism welcoming 3 million visitors...

To achieve the set goals, the Provincial People's Committee focuses on implementing tasks and solutions to develop legal wood resources and increase the value of the wood processing industry; maintain the stability of the approved concentrated raw material forest area of ​​about 80 thousand hectares. Develop non-timber forest products and medicinal herbs suitable for climate and soil conditions, suitable for ecological requirements. Prioritize some existing tree species with large areas and high economic value such as: Morinda officinalis, yellow tea, Gynostemma pentaphyllum, Southern ginseng of Danh mountain...

Building economic development models for agriculture, forestry and fishery combined with forest garden models, forest farms, cultivation, development, harvesting of medicinal plants, livestock and aquaculture under forest canopy...

Promote the implementation of the policy of payment for forest environmental services in the province in accordance with the provisions of law. Protect and sustainably develop the entire existing forest area, especially natural forest area; restore and improve the quality of natural forests to conserve biodiversity, use and provide forest environmental services.

Develop product brands, introduce information on policies, science , technology, domestic and international markets of wood products, non-timber forest products, medicinal materials, tourism and forest environmental services.

Enhance the role of state management in the production and trading of forestry plant varieties, giving priority to the development of varieties produced from tissue culture for production forest planting. Mechanize and apply science and technology, improve productivity, quality and efficiency of production forests.

The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to coordinate with departments, branches and People's Committees of communes and wards to implement the tasks; at the same time, integrate the Project's objectives into national target programs and sustainable forestry development plans. Localities are responsible for developing specific plans, organizing propaganda, raising public awareness and conducting periodic inspection and evaluation.
