On August 15, Vietnam Waste Treatment Company Limited (VWS, the investor of Da Phuoc landfill) sent a document to the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City (DARD) regarding the time to receive waste at the Da Phuoc Waste Treatment Complex (abbreviated as Da Phuoc landfill).

Accordingly, VWS Company agreed to extend the time for receiving and processing garbage for Ho Chi Minh City 24/24 hours until November 30, 2025 so that the city has time to work with the company and arrange a safe garbage collection and transportation system when VWS begins to switch the time for receiving garbage to night (from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.).

VWS Company informed that previously, the City assigned Da Phuoc landfill to process about 4,000 tons/day. At that time, VWS Company only operated one 12-hour shift. After that, the City assigned the company a total of over 5,000 tons of garbage/day and night, the complex had to open 24/7 to receive and process to avoid traffic congestion and garbage trucks could turn around 2 or 3 times a day.

However, since the beginning of 2025, the City has reduced the amount of waste delivered to Da Phuoc landfill to about 4,000 tons/day and night and has not paid VWS for waste treatment. Due to high operating costs and low waste treatment volume, and not being paid for waste treatment, the company has been under financial pressure. Since May 2025, VWS has sent many documents in advance to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City about changing the time of receiving waste at Da Phuoc landfill so that the City and the Department of Agriculture and Environment have time to prepare.

In response to the request of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Department of Agriculture and Environment to extend the time for receiving domestic solid waste to help the City complete administrative procedures and arrange stable personnel during the merger process, VWS Company agreed to extend the time for receiving and processing waste 24/24 hours until November 30, 2025. From December 1, 2025, Da Phuoc landfill will officially receive waste from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. every day.

Previously, on August 11, VWS sent a document to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City announcing that from August 15, 2025, Da Phuoc landfill will officially receive waste from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. every day instead of operating 24/7 as before. On August 14, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City responded in writing to VWS requesting it to adjust the time for receiving domestic solid waste from October 1. During this time, the Department of Agriculture and Environment will work with localities and transport units to adjust the time for delivering domestic solid waste to VWS.
