The annual International Day of Happiness is an occasion for the whole world to express their wishes, beliefs and determination to strive for a world of peace , without war, without poverty; a world of prosperous and sustainable development; a world where everyone, regardless of skin color, ethnicity, or religion, can enjoy happiness. In response to the International Day of Happiness, many practical and meaningful activities have taken place in Lang Son province, aiming to build a happy community.
In June 2012, the United Nations declared March 20 as the International Day of Happiness. To date, 193 member countries, including Vietnam, have pledged to support, act, be more active and make more efforts to build a world of solidarity, improve the quality of life, build a fair society, develop sustainably, and bring happiness to humanity. At the meeting to launch the International Day of Happiness, the then Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Ban Ki Moon, said: “We need a new economic model that recognizes the importance of three essential factors for sustainable development. Those three factors include: Society - Economy - Environment. If we can do all three of these things, we will have a happy world.”
The International Day of Happiness is inspired by the idea of Bhutan, a small kingdom deep in the eastern Himalayas, which is considered a country with a high happiness index based on factors such as: Health, spirit, education , environment, quality of management and living standards of the people. The United Nations chose March 20 as the International Day of Happiness, because this is the spring equinox - the most special day of the year. On this day, the sun is horizontal to the equator, the length of day and night is equal, representing the balance and harmony of the universe. This also symbolizes the balance between yin and yang, between light and darkness, between dreams and reality. With these special meanings, the International Day of Happiness conveys the message that: Balance and harmony are one of the keys to happiness.
In Vietnam, on December 26, 2013, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 2589 approving the Project "Organizing activities on the occasion of the International Day of Happiness on March 20 every year". This project aims to continue to implement the goal of developing social security, building prosperous, progressive and happy Vietnamese families; raising awareness of the whole society about the International Day of Happiness, thereby taking specific and practical actions to build happy families and happy communities; calling for cooperation and assistance from domestic and foreign organizations and individuals to organize activities on the occasion of the International Day of Happiness. In 2014, for the first time, Vietnam officially organized activities on the occasion of the International Day of Happiness on March 20 with the theme "Love and share".
With the theme " Happiness for everyone", On this year's International Day of Happiness, localities across the province have focused on promoting the history and significance of the International Day of Happiness; the theme and message of the United Nations; the theme and slogan. Propagating, disseminating and implementing the Party's viewpoints and policies and the State's policies and laws on building prosperous, progressive and happy families; Programs, Projects and Plans to implement Directive No. 06 of the Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership in family work; Directive No. 11 of the Prime Minister on promoting education on ethics and lifestyle in the family; Directive No. 08 of the Prime Minister on promoting the prevention and control of domestic violence; Strategy for developing Vietnamese families to 2030; Program on preventing and controlling domestic violence in the new situation to 2025; Program on education on ethics and lifestyle in the family to 2030; Criteria for family conduct. In addition, relevant departments, branches, organizations and localities have also organized propaganda activities, mobilizing people from all walks of life to participate in activities associated with the anniversaries in March, Olympic Running Day for the health of all people. Organize charitable activities, visit and help individuals, families, disadvantaged communities in remote areas, ethnic minority areas, mountainous areas in the spirit of love and sharing. Organize activities in response to the International Day of Happiness such as: Rallies, talks, seminars, conferences, competitions, contests, performances, forums, exhibitions of paintings, photos, books or film screenings on the topic of happiness, cultural programs, arts, tourism, physical activities, sports. Organize collective weddings for young men and women couples according to regulations to ensure civilization and savings; honor exemplary elderly couples with lasting happiness.
It can be said that in social life, happiness is the destination of every person and people, regardless of historical period, always seek happiness and wish to be happy. The organization of the International Day of Happiness every year aims at the goal of a peaceful world, without war, without poverty; a prosperous and sustainable world; a world where everyone enjoys happiness. In fact, no country can create happiness for people without the contribution of each individual. The State plays the role of creating mechanisms and policies, and each individual also needs to make efforts to bring happiness to themselves. Therefore, together with the whole country, each citizen should strive to demonstrate the most meaningful actions for their family and for their homeland in the current period. To make the International Day of Happiness meaningful and noble, let us join hands, be unanimous, responsible, creative, and determined to successfully carry out the task of socio-economic development, promote hunger eradication and poverty reduction, with special attention to vulnerable policy subjects. Let us inherit and promote the good traditional values and filial piety of the nation "Many things cover the mirror, people in the same country must love each other". Let us love and share to find for ourselves and help those around us, first of all our family and loved ones, to have moments of true happiness./.
