- On April 14, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lang Son held a conference to discuss solutions to bring agricultural products to supermarket chains in and outside the province.
Attending the conference were leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment and a number of affiliated departments and specialized units, along with 10 enterprises, cooperatives and households producing and trading agricultural products - the subjects of OCOP products in the province.
According to the report presented at the conference, there are currently 399 cooperatives operating in the agricultural sector in the province. Although at different levels, cooperatives operating in the agricultural sector have proactively risen up, boldly approaching capital and credit sources to invest in equipment and machinery, build facilities, expand production and business, build brands and product labels, and apply higher standard processes. The production scale of cooperatives is increasingly expanding, diversifying business lines, exploiting the potential advantages of developing specific products, producing clean products, and linking product consumption chains.
In recent years, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Department of Agriculture and Environment) has implemented support for product standardization (branding; packaging and labeling; traceability of goods; development of OCOP products, etc.) along with trade promotion activities (trade fairs, product displays, agricultural markets, agricultural product promotion weeks, etc.), thereby enabling cooperatives operating in the agricultural sector to access and expand markets, and seek partners to link up in production and product consumption.
Although certain results have been achieved, cooperatives operating in the agricultural sector still have some limitations such as: The number of newly registered establishments has increased rapidly in quantity, but mainly on a small and micro scale; production and business activities are still fragmented, not diversifying products; lacking management and business skills; confusion in organizing production and business; the linkage in production and business of cooperatives with enterprises and other cooperatives is not tight...
At the conference, representatives of enterprises and cooperatives raised a number of difficulties such as: Lack of capital to invest in production equipment lines and preservation technology; not yet accumulating land to develop and create concentrated sources of raw materials; production and business have not been linked to community ecotourism ; the phenomenon of unhealthy competition of some products of unknown origin at cheap prices circulating on the market...
During the conference, representatives of specialized agencies of the Department of Agriculture and Environment also answered some questions from businesses and cooperatives about implementing some regulations in business activities, preferential credit loans, etc. At the same time, they guided businesses and cooperatives on how to adjust and correct information posted to promote products on e-commerce platforms.
At the conference, leaders of the provincial agricultural and environmental sectors and enterprises and cooperatives operating in the agricultural sector exchanged and shared experiences in management and solutions to promote the consumption of agricultural products, especially solutions to organize the introduction of agricultural products into supermarket chains in and outside the province.
Through discussion and exchange, leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, enterprises and cooperatives operating in the agricultural sector (OCOP product owners) agreed on a number of basic solutions to develop products, expand markets, and bring agricultural products to supermarket chains in and outside the province.
In the coming time, the Department of Agriculture and Environment will coordinate with relevant agencies to support enterprises and cooperatives to participate in trade promotion programs; support enterprises and cooperatives to meet and work with supermarkets to discuss cooperation issues.
Enterprises and cooperatives will continue to improve criteria to maintain and improve the quality and image of OCOP products; focus on ensuring food hygiene and safety conditions and standards for products; develop market development plans for products suitable for market segments.
