On the morning of May 16, the Vietnam Medical Informatics Association in collaboration with Ha Nam General Hospital organized a conference to hand over and launch the open source hospital management software (HIS) at Ha Nam General Hospital.
Attending the conference were comrades: Nguyen Huy Dung, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications ; Nguyen Duc Vuong, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Tran Xuan Duong, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Quy Tuong, Chairman of the Vietnam Medical Informatics Association.
Speaking at the conference, Dr. Phan Anh Phong, Director of the Provincial General Hospital, said: Applying information technology (IT) in medical examination and treatment is an inevitable task to meet the needs of improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, aiming at patient satisfaction.
With the desire to apply IT in medical examination and treatment and hospital management to achieve high efficiency, becoming a smart hospital, since March 2023, the Provincial General Hospital has received the transfer of open source HIS hospital management software from the Vietnam Medical Informatics Association. The Provincial General Hospital also sets a goal of completing the implementation of electronic medical record software in 2023 and becoming a smart hospital according to Circular 54/2017 of the Ministry of Health .
Open source software has been built and perfected by Vietsens Technology Group over the past 10 years, and is currently being used in more than 100 hospitals from central to local levels as well as in clinics and health stations at ward and commune levels.
Benefits of open source software: No software rental/purchase costs; Helps the medical IT community to master their software and database without depending on the supplier, thereby improving professional qualifications towards international integration in medical information technology.
From January 7, 2023, medical facilities nationwide can use free open source software at: https://benhvienthongminh.vn.
Applying open source software to hospitals is a step of support from the Vietnam Medical Informatics Association to help hospitals choose suitable software to carry out digital transformation in medical examination and treatment, quickly put electronic medical records into operation, and easily standardize and exchange data between lines and hospitals.
The conference also introduced the Viet Card - A national card, integrating non-cash payments, and in the healthcare sector called the smart medical examination and treatment card. The Viet Card - A national card, with the coordination between the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy (Ministry of Industry and Trade) and the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management (Ministry of Health) is the core product of the "National E-commerce Development Program for the period 2014-2020" issued by the Prime Minister. The integration of multiple features helps the smart medical examination and treatment card bring many benefits to both patients and hospitals.
On this occasion, representatives of OneLink Vietnam Technology Joint Stock Company - the developer and provider of smart health care card solutions, presented gifts to a number of disadvantaged patients being treated at the Provincial General Hospital.
