In particular, the Green Tourism Standards for tourist accommodation establishments include the following groups of criteria: Greenhouse gas emission criteria (18 criteria); Green action criteria (including 84 criteria, divided into 4 main topics: sustainable development management team, environment, society, customers and staff). The Green Tourism Standards for tourist attractions include the following groups of criteria: Greenhouse gas emission criteria (10 criteria); Green action criteria (including 90 criteria, divided into 6 main topics: sustainable development management team, environment, society, customers and staff, green transportation, conservation of cultural and natural resources).
Based on this set of standards, accommodation establishments and tourist attractions will implement and self-assess the level of sustainability in their current tourism business activities based on green tourism criteria and indicators. When they are found to meet the standards for recognition, they will register to be granted a green tourism establishment and attraction certificate. The recognition decision and green tourism standard certificate are signed and issued by the Provincial People's Committee based on the proposal of the Evaluation Council, valid for 3 years.
The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments, agencies, units and the Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association to guide organizations, enterprises and tourism units to apply the Green Tourism Standards in the operation process at tourist establishments; at the same time, regularly monitor, inspect and summarize the implementation status; annually evaluate the results, problems and issues and propose the Provincial People's Committee to consider, adjust and supplement accordingly. Relevant departments, agencies, units and the Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association coordinate with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in disseminating, deploying and guiding the implementation of the Green Tourism Standards to tourist establishments to achieve practical results.
According to the leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the issuance of the Green Tourism Standards helps tourism businesses review green transformation and sustainable development activities; set specific standards to help tourism businesses improve service quality and visitor experience. Standards on safety, hygiene and waste management will be widely applied, ensuring that tourism establishments meet service quality requirements, while protecting the health and safety of visitors. This helps improve the image of tourism businesses, contributing to building Khanh Hoa province into a sustainable and attractive tourist destination.
