The press plays a very important role in promoting the development of cultural industries, both from the perspective of the press itself and from the perspective of the press as a bridge and catalyst for the cultural industry.

On the morning of May 31, in Hai Phong city, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam Television, and Hai Phong City People's Committee organized the Forum "The role of the press in promoting the development of cultural industries".

Inspirational Bridge

In his opening speech, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh emphasized that the Forum is a key activity in a series of events celebrating the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, an opportunity for press agencies and delegates to meet, share, listen and discuss opportunities and challenges for press media in promoting the development of cultural industries; Practical experiences from press media agencies, businesses and creators in promoting cultural industries today; Proposing solutions and policies to improve the effectiveness of coordination between press, media and cultural industries in the new period.

The forum consists of two sessions. Session 1, on the role of the press in developing cultural industries; Session 2, dialogue between the press, businesses and managers.

The forum received presentations from leaders of press agencies, experts, cultural managers, and businesses such as: Removing policy bottlenecks to develop cultural industries; The role of mass media in promoting the development of cultural industries: World experience and policy implications for Vietnam; Promoting the role of the press in accompanying, promoting and orienting the development of cultural industries in Hai Phong city...

The Forum also held a discussion with the following contents: Current situation and issues in promoting the development of cultural industries in Vietnam in the current context; Solutions and policies to support the development of cultural industries; Cooperation between the press and businesses in promoting cultural products; Experience from successful models... The speakers showed that cultural industries are identified as one of the important growth drivers, contributing greatly to the socio-economic development of the country, preserving and spreading the unique cultural values ​​of the Vietnamese people.

In the context of globalization, deep integration, and strong digital transformation, creative, artistic, and entertainment products have become symbols of national vitality, bravery, and intelligence.

Vietnam, with its rich cultural potential and strong identity, has all the favorable conditions to develop cultural industries into new "key industries", contributing increasingly to the national GDP, creating more jobs, improving the spiritual life of the people, and promoting the image of the country and Vietnamese people to the world.

Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong shared that, along with the system of press agencies nationwide, in Hai Phong city there are 3 press agencies of the city and 56 representative offices and resident reporters of central and provincial press agencies.

Accompanying the development of the city, the central and city press agencies always play the role of an important and effective information bridge, orienting public opinion and spreading positive values. Thereby contributing to the propaganda about the city and the cause of socio-economic development in general, promoting the values ​​of cultural heritage, historical relics, and developing Hai Phong tourism in particular.

In particular, press agencies have stepped up propaganda on key tasks and solutions to spread the values ​​of cultural heritage, the spiritual and cultural life of the land, and the friendly and hospitable people of Hai Phong, transforming cultural heritage values ​​to develop diversified tourism products.

Renaissance, development of national culture

Mr. Le Hai Binh, Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, affirmed that the press plays a very important role in promoting the development of cultural industries, both from the perspective of the press itself and from the perspective of the press as a bridge and catalyst with cultural industries.

At the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century, cultural industry and creative industry have emerged as a star, an economic bright spot, a special opportunity for countries with advantages, foundations, and rich cultural treasures to rise from culture, through culture.

Vietnam is a country with full potential to develop cultural industry. In 2014, for the first time, Resolution 33-NQ/TW of the Party Central Committee mentioned national soft power and cultural industry. Next, the Strategy for developing Vietnam's cultural industry to 2020, with a vision to 2030, set a target that by 2030, the revenue of cultural industries will contribute 7% of GDP, so that culture is not only a "spending money" industry but actually a "making money" industry.

According to Mr. Le Hai Binh, to confidently enter the era of national growth, at the 9th National Press Award on Party Building - Golden Hammer and Sickle Award, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the new era is opening up a bright future for the nation. The new era also sets new and higher requirements for revolutionary journalism, requiring the press to develop accordingly, grow with the nation, and be worthy of professional, humane, and modern journalism.

To realize the role of the press as a driving force, bridge, conductor, and companion for cultural industries in the new era, Mr. Le Hai Binh hopes that press agencies will continue to proactively innovate in both content and form, strongly apply science and technology, digital transformation to spread stories of innovation and creativity, honor initiatives and typical examples in the economic and cultural fields.

At the same time, press agencies strengthen interdisciplinary cooperation, closely link with creative and artistic establishments in promoting products, building national and international cultural brands; provide accurate, humane information, orient aesthetics and arouse pride in Vietnamese identity.

Press agencies firmly protect the national cultural foundation in the flow of innovation and international integration; focus on training and fostering a team of reporters, editors and journalists with strong political will, high professional qualifications, deep understanding of culture, art and creativity, and the ability to inspire and motivate the development of cultural industries.

In the series of Forum events, there are also sideline activities such as: Photo and video exhibition "Happy Vietnam" organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Photo and document exhibition on the theme "Culture and Cultural Industry of Hai Phong City" organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded Certificates of Merit to 15 press agencies and units under press agencies that have achieved achievements in promoting culture, sports and tourism in the 2023-2024 period./.
