Customers shop at supermarkets on the occasion of April 30

On the occasion of April 30, shopping malls, supermarkets, and chain stores in the province have implemented stimulus activities; increasing the quantity of goods by 10-30% compared to normal days. Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Van, Communications Director of Central Retail Group (Vietnam), said that in addition to the goal of stimulating consumption and promoting Vietnamese goods, the series of events "Pride in Vietnamese agricultural products" on the supermarket systems GO!, Big C, Tops Market has contributed to spreading the spirit of national pride, as well as affirming the remarkable development of the Vietnamese economy after 50 years of national reunification. Therefore, on the occasion of April 30, the number of customers coming to shop at affiliated supermarkets doubled compared to normal days.

Mr. Vo Van Lot, Director of Aeon Vietnam Co., Ltd., said that after the peak shopping period for the Lunar New Year 2025, consumers tend to tighten spending and prioritize buying essential goods. However, the April 30 holiday boosted purchasing power, with an increase of nearly 50% compared to normal days.

Mr. Ha Van Ut, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said that in 2025, the industry and trade sector aims to grow by over 10%. To achieve this target, the sector will promote the implementation of market stabilization programs, national concentrated promotions, and supply-demand connections. Currently, the growth of the province's economy is positive, but the purchasing power of the domestic market has not reached expectations. Retail businesses believe that policies to stimulate consumption and support businesses need to be further promoted.

According to Mr. Duong Bao Khuong, Deputy Director of Co.op Mart Binh Duong Supermarket, the “health” of enterprises is greatly affected by the policies and regulations of the State, especially policies related to financial resources and human resources. Therefore, regulations, especially the policy framework to support enterprises in accessing credit capital, need to be “unlocked” for enterprises to access and develop in the coming time. In addition, the Campaign “Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods” needs to move to a new stage of building “confidence” of consumers when choosing Vietnamese goods. This confidence will be a solid foundation, contributing to the sustainable development of the domestic consumer market.

Mr. Ha Van Ut, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade: In the context of the new US tariff policy affecting export activities and the domestic market's purchasing power has not really improved, it is necessary to promote the implementation of a larger-scale consumer stimulus program.
