Floods and rains have caused isolation in many areas in Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak and Gia Lai provinces.

Accordingly, the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development requested the Department of Industry and Trade of Khanh Hoa, Gia Lai , Dak Lak and Lam Dong provinces to focus on directing and organizing the implementation of flood prevention, response and overcoming consequences with the highest sense of responsibility. At the same time, localities must urgently and strictly carry out tasks to ensure the quantity of goods, food and foodstuffs ready to be brought to the market to serve the people, especially in areas that are being cut off and isolated due to floods.

Accordingly, the Department requests that the Departments of Industry and Trade continue to strictly implement the contents of the Official Dispatch issued by the Prime Minister, the National Civil Defense Steering Committee and the Minister of Industry and Trade .

Localities need to urge businesses, supermarket chains and petroleum traders to stockpile essential goods such as food, beverages, gasoline, roofing sheets, steel sheets, etc.; at the same time, coordinate with supermarkets in affected areas to coordinate goods from neighboring localities to serve people, avoiding shortages. Departments must clearly define the list, quantity, preservation, transportation and distribution methods to be ready to respond if natural disasters cause isolation of the area.

The Department also requested the market management force to closely monitor market developments; strengthen supervision, inspection and strictly handle acts of taking advantage of natural disasters to speculate, hoard goods, and unreasonably increase prices of essential goods, gasoline and construction materials for home repairs such as bricks, tiles, corrugated iron, iron and steel, etc.

At the same time, localities must review the damage situation at markets, supermarkets, and gas stations; coordinate with functional units to support the restoration of affected business locations to soon resume operations, ensuring the supply of essential goods.

For areas isolated by landslides and floods, the Department of Industry and Trade needs to coordinate with functional forces to use specialized vehicles to transport necessities to people.

In addition, the Department recommends that localities proactively provide information on the supply and prices of essential goods to the media to avoid panic and market instability; regularly update and report on supply and demand, prices and distribution networks to ensure smooth information in all situations.
