"Every roof is a national flag"
Seeing the red corrugated iron roof, Le Quang Vu had the idea of drawing a 5-pointed yellow star on it, creating the shape of a national flag with an area of 150 square meters.
After completing the flag on the roof of the house he had just built for his parents in Tam Duong district, Vinh Phuc province, the 29-year-old man filmed a video and posted it on social media, unexpectedly receiving 2.8 million views and more than 100,000 likes and comments overnight, creating a wave of "painting the national flag on the roof" spreading across Vietnam.
Mr. Nguyen Thai Trong in Ngoc Lac district, Thanh Hoa has just completed a 60 m2 flag on the roof of his house. He said he learned about this trend on social media and wanted to do it to show his patriotism. After measuring and preparing to paint, it took him 15 minutes to complete. He was the first person to do it in his hometown. In addition to the national flag, Trong plans to paint the hammer and sickle flag on the remaining roof of his house in the near future.
After doing so, he wrote on his personal page, calling on people in the area who wanted to paint the red flag with a yellow star on their roofs to do the same and use a flycam to film the process. So far, Trong has received support requests from more than a dozen people.
Vu and Trong are two of many people in Vietnam who are responding to the idea of "Every roof is a national flag". Painting the Vietnamese flag on the roof has been done by people before, but this time it has spread more strongly.
This trend appeared at the end of July with the idea of expressing patriotism, national pride and celebrating National Day September 2. Under each video, users shared the process of making it, attracting hundreds of thousands of likes and comments.
On social media platforms, people in many provinces and cities from Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen, Lang Son, Hanoi to Ninh Thuan, Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces of the Southwest region also responded enthusiastically. Many people said they were preparing to paint on their family's tiled roofs, even their fibro-cement roofs.
Just realized, there is no need to express love for homeland somewhere far away, each individual can do it right in his own home.

The virtual filtering was carried out by the Ministry of Education and Training 6 times according to the process, starting from August 13 to 5:00 p.m. on August 17. After that, the schools downloaded the results of the 6th round of processing and prepared to announce the admission benchmark scores.
The virtual filtering system will operate as follows: all candidates, regardless of the method of admission, will register online on the common portal of the Ministry of Education and Training within the prescribed time.
The wishes are arranged in order from one to the end, in which wish 1 is the highest.
At the end of the registration period, schools download the data of candidates registering for admission to their schools from the software, run their own admission software and update the results of successful candidates back to the ministry's common software to run virtual filtering on the entire system.
The number of candidates registering for university and college entrance exams for preschool education in 2024 is 733,652 (accounting for 68.48% of high school exam takers), higher than last year (65.90% of exam takers).
A 2024 Olympic gold medal costs up to $900 in raw materials
This value was boosted by gold prices, which surged to a record high in mid-July 2024, driven by central bank buying, retail interest in China and expectations of easing US monetary policy.
The price of silver, which makes up at least 92.5% of the weight of the 2024 Olympic gold medal, has also increased significantly this year.
Each Olympic gold medal contains 6 grams of gold, and their value is even higher than the raw material value after adjusting for inflation.
However, the value of an Olympic gold medal is not limited to its material value. The fact that this year's medal contains a small part of the Eiffel Tower adds to its historical significance.
Cancer mortality rates in men to increase by 93% by 2050
In a study published in the journal Cancer, researchers from Australia analyzed the number of cases and deaths from 30 different types of cancer in 185 countries and territories in 2022 to make projections for 2050.
Based on their analysis, they predict that by 2050, the number of cancer cases in men will reach 19 million, an increase of 84% compared to 2022 (10.3 million cases).
Cancer deaths among men are expected to reach 10.5 million in 2050, up 93% from 5.4 million in 2022. Cancer deaths among men aged 65 and over are expected to increase by 117%.
Men are at higher risk of dying from cancer than women. This is because they smoke and drink more, and may be exposed to more carcinogens in the workplace. They are also less likely to have access to screening programs.
According to the study, lung cancer is predicted to be the leading cancer in men by 2050, and also the leading cause of death. It is followed by mesothelioma and prostate cancer.
