According to the report of the Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue, the rainfall from 7pm on May 22 to 9am on May 23 was generally 30-80mm. Some places had very heavy rain such as: Phuc Yen commune (Lam Binh) with 255mm of rainfall; Thanh Tuong commune (Na Hang) with 133mm; Tuyen Quang city with 140mm; Yen Thuan commune (Ham Yen) with 128mm.
Heavy rains have caused localized flooding in many locations in districts and cities, causing damage to housing and agricultural production, affecting the lives of people in districts and cities in the province. By 11:30 a.m. on May 23, 8 houses in Lam Binh and Na Hang districts were affected by landslides; 1 auxiliary project of Xuan Lam Secondary and High School for Ethnic Minorities (Lam Binh) was eroded. Heavy rains also flooded and damaged nearly 100 hectares of rice, corn, vegetables and many other projects in Na Hang and Lam Binh districts.
Immediately after the disaster occurred, the People's Committees of districts and cities directed and assigned officials to go to the grassroots to grasp the situation and direct communes, wards and towns to count the damage, guide people to overcome the consequences of heavy rain and flooding to ensure the stability of people's lives and production. The People's Committees of Na Hang and Lam Binh districts mobilized forces to join the people in cleaning up and supporting households affected by landslides to return to their homes soon to stabilize people's lives back to normal.
