If Malaysia has home field advantage, a strong squad with many naturalized players, the Vietnamese team will be the 2024 ASEAN Cup champion and will be highly regarded for their mettle.

Although not having the strongest squad in this match, coach Kim Sang Sik still showed concern and believed that his players would do well, while captain Cklamovski declared that Malaysia had the advantage to win.

Bernama newspaper hopes that coach Cklamovski and his team can achieve their goal, but does not forget to point out:

The last time Malaysia beat Vietnam was at the 2014 AFF Cup in Hanoi , with a score of 4-2. Since then they have not known the taste of victory, only 1 draw and 7 losses to the Golden Star Warriors, in all competitions ”.

This newspaper raises the question: Will the "curse" of not knowing the taste of victory against such an opponent for more than ten years hold back the Malaysian players in the battle on the evening of June 10, or will it be the motivation for them to overcome difficulties?

Peter Cklamovski expressed: " Instead of being afraid of that (results against Vietnam - PV), the whole team is ready to face and turn the challenge into an opportunity to change the situation ."

Bharian quoted captain Matthew Davies' assessment, as well as his request to his teammates for the match against Vietnam:

Although the Vietnamese team is missing two key strikers, Xuan Son and Cong Phuong, they still have other players to rely on for the match at Bukit Jalil.

Therefore, Malaysia's defense cannot be negligent and must concentrate to achieve the goal of winning .

The 30-year-old added that under coach Peter Cklamovski, Malaysia wants to focus on their own strengths rather than analyzing each opponent player in detail:

I think Malaysia need to show their full potential and be prepared for any situation. The biggest difference under coach Peter Cklamovski is that we focus more on team spirit.

Therefore, we do not care about the fact that Vietnam team is missing any key players. Even so, they still have other good options to fill the gap.

It is better for Malaysia to focus on its own preparation, because we know the strength of the Vietnamese team .”
