Over 60 world-renowned quantum scientists gathered in Quy Nhon City.

On June 9th, at the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE, Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province), the Vietnam Meeting Association, in collaboration with ICISE and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN, France), inaugurated a scientific event themed: "Summer School for Advanced Studies in Quantum Field Theory and Quantum Gravity 2025".

The program features in-person and online instruction from many of the world's leading professors in the fields of theoretical physics and quantum gravity, including Professor Juan Maldacena (Princeton Institute for Advanced Study, USA) – the father of the Maldacena hypothesis, the foundation for the profound connection between gravity and string theory; Professor Andrew Strominger (Harvard University, USA) – a pioneering expert in black hole research; and Professor Erik Verlinde (University of Amsterdam, Netherlands) – author of the theory that "gravity is buoyancy".

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Professor Laurent Baulieu, from the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics and High Energy, Sorbonne University (France), and Head of the Summer School Organizing Committee, emphasized the significance and importance of bringing the program to Vietnam for the second consecutive time, following its success in Quy Nhon City two years ago.

Initiated nearly three decades ago by Professor Laurent Baulieu at the Cargèse Center (Corsica, France), the Summer School for Advanced Studies in Quantum Field Theory and Quantum Gravity has been held for over 14 editions, attracting more than 1,000 international participants.

The program receives academic sponsorship from over 30 leading theoretical physics professors, including 4 Nobel Prize winners in Physics - 3 of whom have previously taught at science programs in Vietnam organized by the Vietnam Science Meeting Association.

This year, the Summer School also features the presence of many other renowned scientists such as: Professor Shiraz Minwalla (Tata Institute for Fundamental Research, India), Professor Dam Thanh Son (University of Chicago, USA), Professor Nathan Berkovits (International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Brazil), Professor Suvrat Raju (India)...

Professor Tran Thanh Van, President of the Vietnam Meeting Association, said: The Quantum Summer School is not only an intensive training course, but also an international forum where students from the US, France, Germany, Japan, India, China, Ireland, Israel, Brazil, Iran, Argentina, Indonesia, South Korea, Vietnam… meet, learn and broaden their scientific horizons.

Through lectures, group discussions, and direct interaction with professors, students will gain access to core principles and the latest research directions in quantum field theory and quantum gravity – foundations driving technological fields such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, particle physics, and materials technology.

The 2025 Quantum Summer School will help raise Vietnam's recognition and standing on the international scientific map; and at the same time contribute to making Quy Nhon City a prestigious academic destination, a place where the world's scientific excellence intersects with Vietnam's aspirations for knowledge.
