Singapore's leading prestigious newspaper, The Straits Times, said: "The search for a replacement for coach Nishigaya (Japanese) is ongoing. Sources from Korea said that coach Park Hang Seo is among the candidates that the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) is interested in."
"But due to financial constraints, FAS finds it difficult to meet coach Park Hang Seo's salary. When he was working for the Vietnam national team, coach Park Hang Seo received a salary of 50,000 USD/month (more than 1.2 billion VND/month)," The Straits Times added.

Also according to the Singaporean daily, another limitation of Coach Park Hang Seo compared to other candidates for the Singapore national team coach position is that Mr. Park is not good at English.
The Straits Times shared: "Some Singapore players feel that current coach Nishigaya's ability to inspire is poor. He cannot convey his ideas and tactics effectively, due to his poor English skills."
"During the Singapore team's training and competition, coach Nishigaya mainly communicated with the team through assistant Koichiro Iizuka," the Singapore newspaper added.

According to The Straits Times, Coach Park Hang Seo is the only Korean among the candidates who can replace Coach Nishigaya in the Singapore team. Some candidates on this list have worked with the Football Association of Singapore (FAS).
However, among those who have worked with FAS, Coach Park Hang Seo has not been included. The Straits Times revealed: "FAS has discussed with a number of candidates, including Mr. Kazuaki Yoshinaga (Japanese) and Mr. Alex Weaver (British). Coach Alex Weaver used to work in Singapore."
"The top candidate is Mr. Tsutomu Ogura (Japanese), 57 years old. Coach Tsutomu Ogura was an assistant coach of the Japanese national team from 2006 to 2010 and an assistant coach of the Japanese Olympic team from 2010 to 2012. Coach Tsutomu Ogura is fluent in English," revealed The Straits Times.
Coach Nishigaya himself admitted: "I'm not sure if I will work until March 2024 (when the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Asia return) or not? If I still work, I will still respect my job."
