An article by a 24-year-old male doctoral candidate has been officially removed.

(Dan Tri) - An international article co-authored by a 24-year-old doctoral candidate at Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine has just been removed.

The journal Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases: Journal of the COPD Foundation (JCOPDF) has just removed the article by the Vietnamese author group.

The group of authors of this article consists of 10 people, including candidate Au Nhat Huy, 24 years old, who has just been admitted to the doctoral training program of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine.

The article, titled "Metabolic Dysfunction - Associated Fatty Liver Disease in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Patients: Insights From Vietnam," was published online in mid-July.

The JCOPDF journal removed the article because the main author of the article reported the duplicate publication.

It is known that this is one of 8 articles that candidate Au Nhat Huy submitted to calculate the score for the doctoral entrance exam to Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine.

Talking to Dan Tri reporter about the incident, the leader of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine said that, previously, the school had received a notice from the main author of the international article "Metabolic Dysfunction - Associated Fatty Liver Disease in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Patients: Insights From Vietnam" about withdrawing the published article.

Immediately after receiving the notice, on October 9, the school's graduate admissions board met to consider the case of candidate Au Nhat Huy.

Because the main author announced the withdrawal of the article, the school deducted the converted points of this article from the research experience of candidate Au Nhat Huy.

The conversion score for this candidate's research experience decreased from 8 articles, reaching a maximum score of 10, to 9.5 points with 7 articles. The total score for the doctoral entrance exam of candidate Au Nhat Huy decreased from 88.8 points to 88.3 points.

A representative of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine said that all scientific articles that candidate Au Nhat Huy submitted his application for were published in journals in the List of Scientific Journals that will be counted for points in 2025 according to Decision 26/QD-HDGSNN issued on July 11, 2025.

Candidate profiles meet the admission criteria in the Regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training : "Have research experience demonstrated through a master's thesis, or published scientific articles/reports" and the School's Regulations: "Have research experience demonstrated through a master's thesis, or published scientific articles/reports in peer-reviewed journals".

At the time of application, the candidate submitted 8 articles, including 5 articles published in domestic journals, which are journals with 0-1 points according to the State Council of Professors' classification 2025, and 3 articles published in international journals, listed in the Scopus Index (a database of citations and summaries of major scientific publications) during the time of publication.

With one article being withdrawn, the total score being reduced by 0.5 points does not affect candidate Au Nhat Huy's admission to the doctoral training program at Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine.

Au Nhat Huy is the youngest candidate among 25 candidates admitted to doctoral training at Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine this year.

Au Nhat Huy has just graduated with honors in Medicine after 6 years of studying at Tan Tao University with a GPA of 3.8/4.0; TOEIC certificate of 940/990.
